Video Games, Even MMOs - Anybody?

I know we're old timers and most will chuckle at the mention of video games. But I've been playing for a long time. And I'm not talking about word games and the like, although I play them too. I'm talking about the real thing...games of various genres on the Playstation, the XBox and the PC. Even the relatively hard-core games, like MMOs...massively multiplayer online games...which are often role playing games which allow you to develop a character and immerse yourself in him/her as much or as little as you like. Lots of fun, especially when done with the same folks on a regular basis.

I don't play as much anymore, but I still like them. It's just harder to find folks in my age bracket who share the interest. I know most Villagers could give a hoot, but there must be a few of you out there who play some. No? I'm not even necessarily trying to lure anybody into playing. At this point I'm just testing the waters and see if any Villagers will admit to being a gamer.

I got my start at the very beginning. Games like Pac Man, Asteroids and the like. I developed a real liking for video games that has never left and that has given me many good times over the years. And yes...I am a responsible adult who had a good career with multiple college degrees and a great family! :) All gamers are not society dropouts. LOL!!

Anyway, I'd love to hear from any of you folks who share even a bit of a liking of video games like I've described. Game on. :)

I like Bally video games back in the day, gun fight, Qubert, Asteroids, pinball, and couple more I can’t remember. Never liked Atari the bad programming with dots didn’t do much for me. After my son grew up by passed Nintendo PlayStation, and Xbox. Then years later had computer 💻 games, sportsman paradise, test drive with steering wheel which really like till my only HP windows 98 crapped out. Now all I play Binion’s casino game, chess, and hearts ♥️. I tried several time to get windows 98 going but, the HP I got needs platinum 4 process and driver downloads to run steering wheel, hard to get anything online with dial up now:)

Games

PLAYED Doom, half life, quaked and every version of call of duty, medal of honor, battlefield and others I can't remember. started with doom and half life in 94 OR SO. rather than do another rebuild on my home built gaming computer I Switched to a ps4 recently. belonged to several gaming clans over the years with like minded game style players, mostly stealth. now just a casual doomer

Me too!

Although since we moved here I have been too busy, but with the current state of things, seems like a good time to re-start.

I play on a PS4 and I mostly play RPG adventure games such as Far Cry, Assassins Creed, Fallout, that type of game. I have never liked playing on-line because I don’t have a regular schedule in which I can play.

Recently I have also been playing Clash Of Clans, which is on-line. That I play on my iPad. If you are a COC player and need an awesome clan to join, let me know. We have one opening in our Level 14 clan.

Game On!!

I'm a MUDder. Started in 1991 with Gemstone III, went to a MOO that closed down a few years later, and I've been playing ArmageddonMUD ever since.

For the uninitiated - a MUD is a multiplayer interactive roleplaying text-based game. There are *no* graphics at all. They are usually played with a game client based on telnet such as Mushclient, TinTin, or Zmud. Armageddon in particular is a pretty intensive roleplaying environment and it's been around since the 1990's. It's permanent death - when your character dies, you make a new one. Requires application submission for new characters - because characters have to be "in genre" - which is a post-apocalyptic non-earth world where magicks are dangerous and outlawed in some places, and the governments of the cities are as corrupt as the criminals. Sort of the Dark Sun campaign of Dungeons and Dragons meets Frank Herbert's Dune novels, with just a touch of Game of Thrones tossed in for kicks and giggles.

I still have the original pong. A big box with two wired joystick controls that does nothing but move a paddle up and down to hit a bouncing ball back and forth. Have not used it since around 1977, but it’s gotta be worth something? Last weekend our daughter visited and we gave her the x-box and wii video game stations and games she grew up playing and had stored for her. I would rather read, play cards, and watch TV now during our sit down relaxation times.

I have the Lost Treasures of Infocom tucked away in a box somewhere, along with King's Quest, KQII, and KQIV (I never got III).

I started with the Avalon Hill games way back when....
