The Peoples Republic of Massachusetts
I was listening to a Boston radio station news broadcast today.
Item: The Massachusetts legislature, today passed legislation assigning its future electoral college votes in Presidential elections to the candidate with the most popular vote, nation wide, regardless of which candidate carried the state. In Massachusetts, you have the vote but you can only vote for the popular people for your vote to count. This should tick off even the liberals. Yoda |
Idiots. Ignorant idiots.
There's a reason for the Electoral College and it has nothing to do with the lack of communication infrastructure technology of the 18th century. (That was addressed when the inauguration was moved from March to January) It has EVERYTHING to do with requiring a candidate to gain popularity all across the country, consistent with "The Great Compromise" when we set this country up to begin with. Liberals would LOVE a direct popular vote because a candidate could pander to New York, LA and Chicago and practically thumb their nose at the rest of the country. People complain that too much attention is paid to swing states like Ohio? How about making Ohio irrelevant - along with several other states? |
