Coronavirus Testing - Day 1 Results

Today's Daily Sun posted the results from Monday's testing for the coronavirus. They wrote: "“Of the 120 patients with symptoms who were given clinical tests, two were positive for COVID-19. None of the 300 patients without symptoms were positive.” These are great results. Even better, the two who tested positive had already been self quarantining.

If you have NO symptoms why are they being tested and using up the needed test kits? If there was not a possible potential legal problem they should be turned away. This is only common sense but the problem with common sense is that it is not so common

People with no symptoms could sign up this week for a UF research project. They will be used in longer term research of the disease to try and track the disease spread. It is a good thing all the non symptomatic patients did not test positive.

Nice to hear that.

The best news I've heard all day ... thanks for sharing it.

Best to educate yourself before casting aspersions. UF is conducting a research program which involves asymptomatic subjects who volunteer to help them. You’re right about common sense.

Really good news. My husband took part in the research group. When he came home, I made him take off all of his clothes and I sprayed him with the garden hose. ( I did it discretely in the side yard) ;)

Anything from day 2? I got tested on Tuesday and I haven't heard a thing. It's been the max 72 hours. I called UF and they knew nothing about it. They said to call the hospital because they conducted the tests. I called the hospital and they said they knew nothing and told me to call UF. I think the whole thing was a scam. Kidding but frustrated.

VDS is reporting 8 positives with 800 tested as of day two. Hopefully more info tomorrow.

Not very comforting since in other areas they found there may be 10 ~ 15 more for every positive test.

8 out of 800 is only 1% positive. That actually sounds good. Zero would be better but still.

I think I read (not sure) where something like 25% of the people in NYC who took the test were positive.

Did you see the article in the Orlando Sentinel that 27 out of 29 cases in Sumter County are in The Villages? I can't post the link because I'm still a junior member, but google: Coronavirus in the villages Florida, and you'll find the article.

This is a nonlinear situation, need to think exponentially, we are on a doubling every 3 days trajectory if there is no mitigation.

You can find information on the number of cases per county and city and more on Florida’s health page Home | Florida Department of Health COVID-19 Outbreak. Look at the dashboard and report buttons toward the bottom of the page for detailed information.

What’s really exciting is as of Monday, Sumter county had about 45 results, of which 5 were positive. Now we have 445 results with 29 positive, so when we started more widespread testing the percentages went down.

After looking @ the description of the places that 17 of the summer county residents who have the virus --all indications are they contacted the virus while on cruise/cruises--Panama, Honduras, Belize, Turks, Caicos & the Caribbean--really had to take that cruise
thanks for being selfish

There is a statement that indicates that patient ZERO is a woman who sold shrimp in Wuhan--this pandemic has now been traced to one person back in Dec
