Coronavirus Advice

I am changing direction and taking advice from the medical community. Am I messing up since the medical advice I am hearing the loudest is coming from the media outlets and it is different from the federal leadership. Who’s right! Please don’t think I am being political. I want the best advice for me and my family.

The best advice?

The best advice from the federal level seems to be coming at the briefings from Drs. Fauci and Birx. Much of the media still seems to interject political opinions into a medical issue, so I have chosen not to put much faith in them. It is, after all, a medical issue. Get your advice from those in the medical profession. If you want to learn more about what we are up against, search "Ninja Nerd Medicine" on YouTube. They have two videos that cover what is know about the virus in detail. You may not understand the medical and scientific terminology, but if you pay close attention, you will also hear it in a way a layman can understand. The man is an excellent presenter.

Wow, changing this late in the game.

Well I guess, better late than never.......not much better, but some.

There are plenty of online interview by Fauci & Brix.

Your 100% correct, I was hearing what I wanted to hear from the top, but when FOX started sounding alarmed, I had to start listening to the media take on seriousness of this virus.

We are all blessed to have Drs. Fauci and Birx. Please listen to them—not to the arrogant self-appointed experts on this board.

I use the media as a source for videos and live reports from the actual people who know what they're talking about. I ignore the commentary. I don't care what Judge Janine thinks about COVID-19, and I don't care if Jim Acosta thinks trump is a blithering idiot. What I care about is that the actual medical doctors and scientists who do the actual medicine and science regarding the COVID-19 having something to say about it.

So when the media presents a live announcement by these people who actually know what they're talking about, I listen/watch. And then I change the channel back to American Picker reruns once the people who know what they're talking about, are done talking about it.

The most practical advice I've seen remains consistent ..

1. wash your hands frequently

2. do NOT touch your face

If you do those two things, that will go a long way in keeping you safe.

And stay home as much as possible.
Assume everything that comes to your home has the virus on it and treat/sanitize accordingly.

I knew this had political overtone.

Jack58033 03-31-2020 10:26 PM

Should we be listening to the science on a few more issues?

JimJohnson 04-01-2020 02:40 AM

After my best attempt at research, it appears to me, that for accurate information I should stay clear of media outlets like MSNBC, FOX NEWS, Etc.. Best options available for honest, non biased reporting are the Associated Press and the Wall Street Journal. Stay safe everyone.

I watch all three cable networks (FOX, MSNBC, CNN) and the medical advice I get from them agrees with the federal leadership, in my opinion.

With their advice and our own common sense, we think we know exactly what to do to avoid getting the virus.

And stay at least six feet away from anyone who does not live in your house.

For a thorough and layman term explanation of how this virus kills, you should watch this YouTube presentation. It's about 34 minutes long, but being homebound with not a lot to do, it's 34 minutes that could be the difference between life and death. This is the link: HOW COVID-19 KILLS--I'm a Surgeon--And Why We Can't Save You - YouTube The presenter is Duc Vuong, MD.

You would be crazy to listen to anyone in the news. Follow advice from federal and state leaders
