Ohio Schools

The following was sent to my two grandsons in Ohio. I wonder if the Florida schools will follow suit. :icon_wink:

From the outside looking in, and from reports I read, the Govenor of Ohio has been ahead of the game since the start of all this.

Wow. Two thirds of the way through the year and they have to start over. I guess online learning isn't working.

Not in Florida

The students in the Villages Charter Schools have missed one week of instruction due to the corona virus. They smoothly moved into online instruction and the students should have no problem completing their grade level instruction by the end of May. I believe it is a similar case in a number of surrounding school districts. Therefore, I do not see anyway that the State of Florida would do what Ohio is doing.

Please REMEMBER what day it is. April 1st also known as April fools' day and or another one for my grandkids to always remember! Many other things are unfortunately very true for us today. It's sometimes very difficult to view these current times without a little bit of humor. One grandson saw through the fake news and the other was a little slower on the uptake. They are a little bit happy now!

I totally agree. Each Villages Charter School student was given a Chromebook loaded with all the programs needed to complete assignments. The teachers upload assignments every week. They have tests. Every day the teacher has at least 1/2 hour of live "facetime" with their class where they answer questions and even do a little teaching.

The Villages Charter School isn’t Florida...unfortunately.

This is overkill. Students are crisis learning, not home learning. In this situation learning should be more self-directed and less structured.
