Yard Sales

As a newbie effective 5-1-2020, are we allowed to have a yard sale? Post signs? Restrictions?

Yes, but everything must be inside the garage. Nothing on the driveway or the lawn. Put balloons on your lamp post. No signs on Village property, only on private property with permission. Advertise in social media and in the Sun.
Good luck!

And don't do it during the corona virus lockdown!

It depends on which part of the Villages you're in. Some areas allow signs on the front yard on the day of the event. Some don't allow signage at all. Some allow you to have stuff in your driveway on display, some require you to keep your stuff in the garage or in the house (or in the back yard, I suppose, if you have a courtyard villa).

Some have rules, but as long as the neighbors don't complain, no one will try and stop you from breaking them.

Some don't have rules, but neighbors might complain anyway.

Duh. Just maybe that was a general question...BUT there’s nothing that says we’ll be out of this as of May 1.

TandHSTAR@AOL.com 04-04-2020 06:03 AM

Actually the rule for all is no merchandise in driveway or lawn. That does not say people don't do it as long as neighbors don't complain

billlaur 04-04-2020 06:33 AM

only 1 person allowed in garage at a time..should keep u busy 4 awhile..:boom:

Get a copy of your deed restrictions for your district. It tells you everything you need to know about what you can or cannot do. They are available online at Village Community Development Districts. Look at the map to determine what district you're in to determine where to find your deed restrictions.
I assume you will not be having a garage sale as soon as you get here. Why pay to move something you don't want in your new home?

lamay1951 04-04-2020 06:47 AM

not to be rude but don't you think you should wait to see how things progress before you decide you're having a yard sale? They are saying the Corona virus amounts are going to peak May 1st

DecaturFargo 04-04-2020 07:28 AM

It is for those who died or lost love ones.

mamamia54 04-04-2020 07:32 AM

It was just a question. Maybe she doesn’t plan on having one right now but was just curious if they are even allowed. I would hope everyone knows the shape this country is in right now and would follow the rules.

You wont know until close to May if quarentine restrictions are lifted.
