Robocall industry decimated by Coronavirus

Haven't had a robocall for a couple weeks. Every cloud has a silver lining.

You’re right! Guess they no longer care about my car warranty. Thank goodness.

Such a *sad* day for that industry!

According to Robokiller in the last 2 weeks i have had 4 which is a usual low end 1 day occurrence on my cell.

The same could be for drug dealers, most likely anyone hanging out in a street corner, these days must be a dealer or a user--makes the job way easier for LEO's

A friend recommend an iPhone app called "YouMail."

While it's kind of a misnomer, it does a great job of zapping junk calls.

I have been getting maybe one a day, if that. Before the Wuhan virus isolation began I was getting 6-8 calls a day on my landline. What a relief!

I haven't really noticed any difference in the number of calls. But, I actually don't mind getting the calls. Although, I hope the banks aren't approving stimulus loans and grants for the telemarketers, but they probably are eligible.

I’ve noticed that too. Hope it puts them out of business.

Yea, but my SPAM has increased 10 fold. I use Centurylink for email and the SPAM filters on their server really suck or they don't really exist as they say they are suppose to.

Amen!!! Whoever "invented" robo calls needs to be eliminated . Maybe I'll call one of my Sicilian friends from NJ to take care of them!

MandoMan 04-07-2020 07:21 AM

I seem to recall reading that Apple, Google, Samsung, etc. put into place last month proprietary programs meant to identify robocallers and block them before you ever get the call. It may be that this is why the number of calls has decreased. I’m not certain about this, but I read in Consumer Reports a couple months ago that this was coming soon. There are exceptions, alas, such as people who have previously answered calls from a company or showed some interest in a product.
