Talking "race" allowed?

http://www.americanthinker.com/print...obama_car.html

The headline stood out like a sore thumb. Race was an issue on closing car dealerships. It seems minorities(race) and woman were given special priorities.

Was this going to be the post race administration? It seems like the Obama administration is going out of it's way to favor minorities on major decisions. Is it just a coincidence?
Please, only mature and rational responses.

Other than specific special interest targets which do play

a roll, there is the effect of statistics.
While I do not have exact numbers to quote and based on common knowledge, the "help" when aimed at the "poor", "needy", unemployed/unemployable people with "of color" for what ever the reason populate these categories.

It is the same as finding more blacks or hispanics in a jail....where the population is primarily made up of those folks in an area.

That aside, there is no doubt that race has been and is being exploited, daily and given credence by the media as well as the actions and flurry of activity seen coming from the WH this past week. Obama and his wife just cannot rise above it. Their backgrounds and roots (just as ours would) affect their reactions
without having the facts.

I personally think it is a significant capability flaw that Obama is unable to rise above the fray and not participate where the POTUS should not be. Each time he does participate it is with emotion followed by a retraction. It does signal to the lead steers of minority groups the direction he favors.

All the above....are my personal opinion with no intention to offend and as I see it.

Yes, I agree that he, Obama, is having problems rising above the fray. I really had hopes that race would not be a constant issue because we have more problems that take priority.

I am really hoping that the last 1 1/2 years have been a learning experience and that things will get progressively better.
My biggest worry is the people he surrounds himself with. Good leaders find the right people to give sound advice. I really believe he needs an overhaul in his cabinet or close advisers.
My biggest disappointment was during the Professor Gates fiasco. I think it really hurt his reputation by pulling the trigger too fast and making a judgment before he knew the facts.
My other pet peeve is his reluctance to admit when he might be wrong. about a decision or policy.
My hopes are that he lives and learns, just like any good leader.

pats2010 very thoughtful response. Obama is a politician.

A lawyer trained, old school, let's make a deal politician. He is not a leader. And he will not be in office long enough to be a leader and hence take a leadership role in America or in the world.

In my opinion he is incapable of rising above the fray. And not only is he reluctant to admit he is wrong, he will not. He will spin a given subject and try to place it in a humorous mode. But when all gets SAID and done, nothing changes.

Perfect example: his refusal to accept the notion the economy will improve through the efforts and investment in the private sector.

When looking for leadership, it becomes an extremely rare capability in politics in general and in the WH in specific.

The only way to get a leader into the WH is not elect a politician. Hence the odds are significantly diminished to accomplish the need.

Race Card

Did Senator John Kennedy vote for or against 1957 Civil Rights Act?

This is an excerpt from an opinion piece in todays Wall St Journal ...

"Even the former head of the Civil Rights Commission, Mary Frances Berry, acknowledged that the Obama administration has taken to polarizing America around the issue of race as a means of diverting attention away from other issues, saying: "the charge of racism is proving to be an effective strategy for Democrats. . . . Having one's opponent rebut charges of racism is far better than discussing joblessness."

This is a good read in total. The subject is how divisive this President has been in all areas including race. And if you look at the polling recently you will find that it seems the country is waking up to the con job played on them in November !!!

Excellent read. Point on. Obama's divisive approach to governance take's your eyes off the real issues. Thanks Bucco.

Ann Coulter has a good column about real racism and violence from the left.

Democrats Lie on Racism. NY Times Admits

Rep. Andre Carson lied when he told the AP that members of the Tea Party hurled the "N-word" 15 times during March 20th health care rally at the US. Capitol.

http://bigjournalism.com/abreitbart/...s/#more-102121

A $100,000 reward was offered if anybody had any "N-words" on recording machines. Many, many recording devices were employed because the dems used this to "set-up" the Tea Partiers. They were certain they would record racists remarks.
I wonder how many other "racists" claims have been false through the years?

Dealing With Race Baiters

Change your way of responding when someone calls you a racist...this is a personal issue within my family. I'm trying to deal with it, because they have no answers in political discussions...so they pull out the race card.

Hope this link still works, it's from an archive.

Liberals

There are no Liberals posting to this thread.

They probably think we are being racist if we discuss racism.

Great article. It should be mandatory reading for all conservatives.
