Why isn't everyone wearing a mask?

Wearing any type of mask when outside or inside and around people is as much for the protection of others as much as for the person wearing it. Unless people wear a mask that filters out 0.125 micron size particles, it won't completely protect anyone from inhaling or exhaling COVID19. However, any mask certainly helps diminish the spread. So my question to all of you who choose to not wear a mask when around others is why? I do not mean this to be sarcastic, I'm looking for honest information.

Guidelines just changed and people don't have masks.

Maybe because you cannot find such masks in any local store. Tired of chasing around looking for toilet paper, hand sanitizer, sanitizing wipes, gloves, masks, etc. You can order online at inflated prices, but delivery dates are delayed or uncertain.

4 plus weeks ago I took a chance and ordered 4 N95 masks from Amazon. I was already set but I ordered them in case I could help a neighbor. Yesterday my wife went and got the mail and their was a USPS envelope with one flimsy white with a blue outline mask in the envelope. What a joke. The charge was just $39.95.

No Good Deed Goes Unpunished!! Now to get the money back they want me to pay the postage to the company that shipped it which meant I would have to enter the Post Office which ain't happening. I guess I'll be on hold with Amazon today. What a shame.

Update: no telephone contact with Amazon until this situation is over. I have patience. I can wait.

This going to fall in the dog poop category

I'm skeptical, but am I the only one who finds it very strange that simple things like masks, toilet paper, hand sanitizers, and thermometers are not readily available everywhere? What's the deal?

If you have a tee shirt or a scarf you have a mask!!

A few weeks ago I posted a thread titled "we've been had" about masks/no masks which was deleted.

Not sure why but it's kind of funny viewing current events.

Whenever I have ordered anything from Amazon, I can log on, click "my orders" and then click "return item". Then, I can print out a shipping label. Sometimes, I even get a credit on my account before I even return the item. I didn't know that you can't do that with all Amazon orders. Also, if you paid with a credit card, you can dispute the charge with your bank, since you didn't get what you ordered.

Lesson to be learned. Amazon always has a bracket eligible for Prime Y/or Blank which means no.

Always read the small print . :ohdear:

Masks are key to getting back to slightly new normal

Please wear a mask. It's an easy measure to protect against a deadly problem. If we all wear masks we can eradicate the threat almost entirely - all must Americans need to participate and we can go back to a slightly modified normal. Masks are the key to getting out of this thing. A long sleeve T-shirt can be a mask. Please realize the seriousness of this and respect your family/neighbors. I love you; and all of humanity enough to wear a mask outside my home.

That's nice. But you don't need to wear a mask all the time. Just when you can't reasonably guarantee 6 foot separation. So, grocery stores, post office, inside gas station, yes. Walking alone outside or riding in your cart or a bicycle, no. I saw a guy inside his car with the windows up driving alone with a mask---give me a break.

N95 masks will protect you from infection...95% of the time, if used properly. Almost all other types of masks do more to protect others from you. They will reduce the spread of the droplets released when you cough, sneeze or speak. A SARS virus is 50 nanometers. A nanometer is a thousand times smaller than a micron.

OP, finally got some masks today, prior to this I would carry a handkerchief and hold it over my face when in public places.

An excellent question, with an answer that is all too obvious...they're selfish, ignorant and don't care about others.

To those types of people I say; "Your right for personal freedom and choice ENDS... when it becomes a danger to me or my loved ones."
