What happened to Cottage Homes?
 

I have noticed on TV sales site there are no new Cottage series homes for sale in Marsh bend and Deluna. Has anyone heard of they discontinued the Cottage series? The few new ones in linden and monarch seem to be either along the turnpike or in patio villa area. Thanks

In Marsh Bend there is a lot of noise just coming from the county roads - having lived 3 1 1/2 miles from the Garden State Parkway in Cape May County NJ for 35 years, the traffic noise on Fri-Sun traveled far. We could not sleep with the windows open in July and August. Playing golf at Loblolly or Longleaf, you can definitely hear traffic noises. I can't imagine backing up to the FL Turnpike.

Have you visited any of the homes/homesites that back to the Turnpike to hear for yourself?

What does your statement have to do with the lack of cottage homes. We have air conditioning and don't open our windows in July and August. There are a lot of people who don't mind and even enjoy the sounds of traffic, especially at night, they have sold a lot of homes so near to the turnpike that you can read the writing on the trucks as they pass by. My grandmother lived less than 100 yards from the railroad and loved it, no AC, windows always open in the summer. The good thing is if you like traffic noise the homes nearby are a bargain. Final question, why did you continue to live in a house that did not allow you to sleep due to traffic noise for 35 years?

I wish it was louder , I back right up to it and can barely hear it with windows open 😊😊😊

I think the answer to the OP’s question is pretty simple. Lower profit margins on Cottage homes and or demand for them. If there was both adequate demand and profit margins (relative to other types of homes), they would build them.

I also feel that since they have small designers now priced in the mid 200's that they have eliminated the need for cottages just as they did with ranches several years back.

I believe if you read that comment again, you will see the poster said he/she could not sleep with the windows open in July and August for 35 years. I don't think the poster was sleepless for 35 years. LOL.

I understood the post but it must have bothered them enough to complain about it as a reply asking about the lack of cottage homes.

When patio villas went from 2 beds to 3 bedrooms, plus a 2 car garage, and sometimes a golf cart garage the cottages became less. Villas Have smaller lots than cottage homes.

I think there are already several threads about the pros and cons of living near a major highway if some of y’all do a search and join up with it. Thanks

They are still building cottage homes. Just fewer. The Villages must know what is selling best and build that.

Homesites, yes

There are none available in Marsh Bend or DeLuna. All of the available cottages are south of Warm Springs and West of the turnpike. Not sure about Chitty Chatty as they are not advertising much for sale over there yet.
