I believe all of your questions have been addressed in one of the 1,314 dog poop topics that have been posted here.

First, I love dogs, have had many, man’s best friend
1. Why do you drive your car or cart up to the postal center to do their business and for no other purpose. I see the same people do this three or four times a day.
2. Why is it that you come to get your mail and get your dog out of your cart or car to do their business?
3. Why do you drive your cart and let the dog try to keep up with you along the street knowing you can not get out and pick up the business?
4. Why don’t you walk your dog to do their business in your own yard?

I am perfectly okay with people walking their dogs in the neighborhoods and am even acceptive if they have to do business ( you never know when nature is going to call) in my yard, as long as they pick it up. We all need exercise and fresh air, our pets included.

Am anxious to hear only from those that use the above as a common practice. If you do not have anything nice to say with a logical explanation, please do not post. My understanding is that the postal center is for a place to pick up your mail, socialize with neighbors and enjoy the amenities adjacent such as shuffleboard etc. They are amenities provided and paid for by the residents, they are not dog parks.
Thank you.

Well, that is the most optimistic expectation I've ever seen on TOTV. You don't really think you'll get nothing but logical and polite responses? Here, on TOTV????:1rotfl::1rotfl::1rotfl:

Full disclosure---I don't walk my dog at postal stations. (OOPS, based on your criteria, I shouldn't have posted. So sorry.)

Free world....

This is from the VCDD website...

“Pet Owners
Please be considerate of others and all properties. Dog owners are responsible for picking up after their pets. Please take all waste home for disposal. Do not use storm drains, postal or recreation facilities for disposing of solid waste or plastic bags. In addition, please follow all county ordinances including all dogs are required to be on a leash. “

Dogs and dog owners who are following the rules...specified in previous reply...have as much right at the mail station as you do.

If you don't like seeing dogs at the postal stations, move to the Southern area south of 44. In those neighborhoods, dogs are banned from all of the postal stations.

Is this meant to be satire?

Oh, my.

Golfingeagles, you are so right. The bait was too tempting. At the time I started this reply there were 4 posts after yours. One was what seemed like a snarky come back.
Next a simple reply of VCDD request. Then came two responses that seemed rather aggressive.
It seems like the poor OP may never get a civil, honest answer to a civil, simple question.

Except for one, the other replies are sarcastic, mean, disrespectful, childhood mentality, can not follow instructions, lawful quotes like they know it all.... chastising a longtime Villager that was curious about what obviously is a huge problem here. Thank you for reminding me of how many nasty people there are out in this world, even in a time when kindness and respect are the what we all need.

Yep, basically what I told you to expect. And I did apologize for not "following instructions"

Is this really true? What if pet owners want to take a stroll with their pets and pass the mail station on their way home. They can not pick up their mail if they have their dog with them?

As expected:1rotfl::1rotfl::1rotfl:

But not really a simple question. Reading between the lines, the OP would appear to dislike dogs being walked at the postal stations. He then goes on to challenge those dog owners to give an explanation, with a set of HIS rules to respond. I doubt the group that walks their dogs at the mailboxes would consider that a "civil question(s)" He then gave another set of HIS rules to exclude non-postal station dog walkers from replying. I was unaware that a poster could define the rules of TOTV. If he was truly looking to get a legitimate answer, there are much better ways to word the question. Perhaps "I notice some dog owners walk their dogs at the postal stations and some don't . Can people explain why they do or do not walk their dogs there?" I also think it was sort of naïve for "a long time Villager" to expect 50,000+ members of TOTV to abide by HIS rules.

But perhaps the reality of TOTV was too harsh for someone with 12 posts in 8 years, maybe I should have worded this better

No.

Go to any postal station in The Villages south of 44. You will see a sign showing a leashed dog with a line through it.

That means dogs are forbidden at that postal station.

That's right. Dogs are not allowed at the postal stations. Read the signs.

Silver Streak 04-27-2020 02:27 PM

Hm, I guess I sort of almost fit the parameters of the rules laid down by the OP... First, NO it's not true that the neighborhoods south of 44 ban dogs from the postal areas. Where did you hear/see that? Second, when we walk the dog to the postal station to get our mail (maybe 1-2 times a week, in lieu of walking her around the block like we usually do), she occasionally does her business there. We pick it up and dispose of it at home in the little can with a lid we keep in the garage for that purpose between track pickups. Perhaps there are people who go to the postal stations JUST so their dogs can do their business, but that's something I've never seen. Not that I spend a lot of time hanging out at the postal station.

There. Civil enough?
