Who are some famous people that live in Florida or at least have a home here? My frame of reference is basically music, but feel free to list famous people from any field.

These are people I've heard or read live at least part of the time in our state:

Bruce Springsteen - Wellington
Jimmy Buffet - Palm Beach
Rod Stewart - Palm Beach area
Phil Collins - Miami
Jon Anderson formerly of Yes - Miami
Dickey Betts formerly of the Allman Brothers - Tampa area
Gary Puckett - Sarasota
Rick Derringer - Sarasota

Others I know of who lived here in the recent past until their deaths include Davy Jones of the Monkees, David Cassidy of the Partridge Family, Martin Balin of Jefferson Airplane/Starship, Burt Reynolds and Leslie Nielsen.

Who else? Does anyone famous have a home right here in Our Villages? Has anyone bumped into any of our famous neighbors anywhere in Florida?

Donna Summer until her death in 2012 from cancer, had a home she bought in 2007 on North Manasota Key off Venice, Florida, where she actually died. She also had a 25 acre home in Brentwood, Tennesse and a home on Shelter Island off Long Island, NY. North Manasota Key is very exclusive and gated community. The home was built in 1950 was once owned by Mel Tillis, it was 4 bedroom 4 bath, 3786 square feet on 1.1 acres with 200' of Gulf frontage with a boat house, dock and pool. After Donna Summer's death, the home went on the market for $3.2 million and sold in 2013 in 71 days for $2.85 million. The buyer was Detlev von Platen, the president and chief executive officer of Porsche Cars North America. Others with homes on Manasota Key are Tim McGraw, Bobby Vinton and Martina Navratilova.
