When will Disney open

I just hope that only 25% of the total capacity is allowed in. but that will not happen Disney is the cash cow

They are opening one of the resorts (Singapore?) at reduced capacity (50%?) to see how this works, as well as other things like temperature scanning, social distancing, etc. I am sure they will work to get this right, they only have a cash cow if the people come, and do NOT get sick.

On news last night Disney is taking reservations for July.

Shanghai Disneyland Reopens with Controlled Capacity on May 11

Shanghai Disneyland theme park will officially reopen to the public on May 11, 2020. The initial park reopening will demonstrate a deliberate approach, drawing on the experience from the successful reopening of Disneytown, Wishing Star Park and Shanghai Disneyland Hotel in early March, and implement enhanced health and safety measures.

During this initial reopening phase, the park will institute new measures and procedures, including opening with limited attendance and required advanced ticketing and reservations, accommodating social distancing in queues, restaurants, ride vehicles and other facilities throughout the park, and implementing increased frequency of sanitization and disinfection.

To minimize crowds, Chinese officials have placed a 30% capacity limit on the resort, a facility that normally sees 80,000 visitors daily. That means the park can only accommodate 24,000 patrons per day.

"We're going to actually open up far below that just to have our training wheels on with our new procedures and processes to make sure we don't have any lines backing up either as guests are entering into the park or as they wade through the park," CEO Bob Chapek said in the earnings call last week.

Disney has proven to be a class act over the years....very disciplined and thorough

they'll reopen when they feel that they have a safe disciplined approach to reopen

Disneyland was never shutdown, it called golf courses. Some — where over the rainbow —- lies hole in one———.

All Disney Golf Courses are still open for play.
Just thought that would cheer you up.

Pickleball, and tennis courts still closed though!:icon_wink:

I know many people love Disney, but it's just not my kind of place. Never been there and will never go. That being said, I hope it can open soon for the sake of all the employees and related businesses that rely on the Disney crowd for their livelihoods. Also, if they open that will be a sign of the pandemic being more under control and hopefully something resembling the new normal for air travel will resume, with direct flights to/from Orlando.

Yes, I glad cause my special handicapped sticker for golf can be used. You know the one where I drive right up to the ball and take on step.

Everything Disney does is world class. I'll feel safe going back when they reopen.

My suggestion open Disney to Florida residents only for 30 days.. then include the rest of the USA/must show ID.. no foreign travelers allowed until 2021.. Disney has been all about crowds.. no longer the happy place.. Just a suggestion .

I’m sure some people wouldn’t care one way or another because they can’t afford it. It’s not cheap for a lot of people!

Disney Springs will be reopening on May 20 however, not all businesses will reopen mostly just restaurants. Disney will do a staged opening starting with Magic Kingdom first then at a later date Hollywood studios. The opening is tentatively scheduled for August 1 but may be pushed back until November or January. Disney is waiting to see how things go at Universal and the other Disney parks. The opening initially will be for season pass holders only. There are numerous changes being planned and they want a soft opening to do a trial and error to make changes. They will only open a few resorts at first starting with those around MK and 1 of the value resorts on the Osceola side of the property. There are numerous 3rd party hotels on Disney property that will open at their discretion, 2 are currently open and have a handful of guests. They don’t expect to be fully open until summer of 2021 at earliest. And NO they are not putting the dollar first, there will be limited access and social distancing policies implemented. Disney does not want an opening and to have a large relapse as a result, bad PR so expect them to take it very slow.
