Drive Inn movies
 

10 years ago The Villages had drive Inn movies at the Polo fields twice a year.
They were fun.
Perhaps it's time for their return?

That would be great

Drive-in movies would be great. However, I am sure the cars and carts would tear up the grass and thoughtless people would not clean up their litter. Just these two points are enough to sink this good idea.

When they have the Golf Fest every March, there are hundreds of carts parking at the Polo Fields. It's not a problem. Plus the Christmas Parade every year is at he polo fields and arriving in your golf cart is preferred. I think it was just last year they scheduled an outdoor movie at Saddlebrook on one of the ball diamonds, but it got rained out.

Keep in mind that it's a private management company not The Villages that operates the polo facilities now. The rent and fee for cleanup would likely be prohibitive.

There were "drive-in" movies last year at the softball fields.

Have gone to drive in movies at the Polo Field. Golf carts only and never a trash issue. They were something different to do at night and a lot of fun.

Maybe a young entrepreneur with some investors willing to take a risk will build a drive-in Theatre near The Villages. We still have one operating (during the spring, summer and fall) in one of our former hometowns in Illinois. Wow, brings back a lot of good memories from the 50’s and 60’s.

Windows were always steamed up which reduced quality of the film. :D

Very difficult to sneak people in in the trunk of a golf cart.
