bride's found 'the house' - it features, among lots of the other stuff she's written down, a '20yr paint warranty w/free transfer to next owner,,, i'm skeptical.
we use sher-wm's best grades ( they have more than 5 ) & even loxon's not warranted for 20yrs.
need some insight on this
note to moderator - if in wrong forum, pls move
thanks in advance !

If it’s Sherman Williams why not ask them for exact warranty

Please be more specific. Exterior paint or interior paint? When was house painted and by whom? Is there a dated warranty document? Bottom line -- I've never heard of a house in TV with this type of paint coverage.

exterior which was a BIG red flag to me,,, no idea who/when if & til we buy it,,, keim doesn't even guarantee mineral paints for 20yrs - thought it was just another sales pitch
thanks, guys !

What did they guarantee against? Never heard of a paint that wouldn't fade in the tropical sun.

A neighbor had his house painged, 25 year Sherwin Williams warranty. The painter said if they got 15 years it would be great, anything else a bonus. There are exceptions to the warranty. If the paint doesn't hold up through the warranty periond and the exceptions the paint is prorated so no full refund. Also, does not cover labor. I don't know how much a gallon costs or how many were needed but he said if he gets 15 years and the paint fails, he might see a hundred bucks. He also said that would require he remembers where he filed the receipts :)

A few years back there was a company with 20+ years warrantee . but I don't plan on being alive that long . last house we did vinyl in NJ and I saved myself 2 paintings over 13 years .

P.s. it's going on ten years now and our yellow house is way less yellow . time to start getting quotes .

Is that fading or peeling? Can’t imagine such a warranty, especially in Florida!

Rhino Shield. Our friends in Louisiana had their stucco house painted.
There is a 25 year product warranty against cracking, chipping, and peeling.

Kling repainted our house several years ago with Sherwin Williams and gave us a 15yr. limited written warranty for peeling and blistering. I don't think any paint can withstand 20 yrs. of Florida U.V. without some fading.

Doc724 05-21-2020 05:57 AM

I also had Rhino Shield done on my house in MA. Info by previous post is correct except she forgot to add that fading is not warrantied. Cost is about 3x of normal paint job. I am told that WDW and a lot of churches go this route.

Yes, my house was painted 2 years ago with a 30 year "transferable" warranty. It was done by a company called Home Makeover systems and it is a paint called ClimaGuard. It is a waterproof sealant and the color will not fade. We painted our last house in Southwest Florida every few years due to fading, etc. and decided we didn't wanna do that here. The paint still looks fresh and new with a slight sheen. We are pleased with the job they did, which included digging down 6 inches around the perimeter of the house to apply paint and sealant, and recaulking all windows, repair slight cracks etc. It cost a fair amount of $$, but we feel it was worth it.

i'm an idiot,,, THANKS, guys ! rhinoshield ! that must be it - its a 2part polyurethane coating. the local franchisee advertises here & i hear it all the time but obviously do NOT listen,,, maybe my bride's right about that, too ?
we lost 1 house paint job last yr to rhinoshield but we're not really painters - only 22 houses.
siding's different - we recommend vinyl to home investors & hardiplank to owner occupied
stucco's probably easiest
AGAIN, THANK YOU !!!!!!!!!!! this totv is a great resource for us soon-to-be newbies

My sister had her house painted with Sherwin-Williams paint and told me they gave her that same warranty. I don’t know anymore specifics but call Sherwin-Williams to be sure.
