Covid and Protestors
 

The health folks are concerned about the spread of Covid at protests. The people are jammed together and most don’t wear a mask. They are yelling which propels saliva. Many are among vulnerable minority populations. If we see a large increase of cases in the cities where this is happening , we will have scientists’ warnings confirmed. If that doesn’t happen, it seems that there wouldn’t be a reason to keep schools closed or severely limit crowds. We would need need to rethink restrictions.

I think the lockdown and social distancing are over. I'm not seeing many of our media overlords criticizing the protesters and rioters for their violations of covid 19 protocols.

It is indeed a terrible "acid" test, canary in the coalmine.

Where will this crowd go when it disperses? Do all of the folks live close by? People are still dying from Covid-19 according to reputable sites like Johns Hopkins, a little over 1000 people a day are still dying from Covid-19 in the U.S.

ROME (Reuters) - The new coronavirus is losing its potency and has become much less lethal, a senior Italian doctor said on Sunday.

“In reality, the virus clinically no longer exists in Italy,” said Alberto Zangrillo, the head of the San Raffaele Hospital in Milan in the northern region of Lombardy, which has borne the brunt of Italy’s coronavirus contagion.

“The swabs that were performed over the last 10 days showed a viral load in quantitative terms that was absolutely infinitesimal compared to the ones carried out a month or two months ago,” he told RAI television.

“The strength the virus had two months ago is not the same strength it has today,” said Matteo Bassetti, head of the infectious diseases clinic at the San Martino hospital in the city of Genoa.

“It is clear that today the COVID-19 disease is different.”

May 29 - 1,283;
May 30 - 876;
May 31 - 605.

If you look at the statistics over time, weekend deaths reported tend to be lower than weekday.

Hay, remember when that covid 19 stuff was around and everyone was in danger? Glad that's gone so we can go back to protecting ourselves with guns instead of mask's.

1 of 7 people arrested in one city were not even from that city, so tracking the spread of the virus in one particular city, may not indicate the true picture.
