Punch hole in wall for new window
 

I live in a stucco house. One room has small window high on wall. I want to enlarge the opening so I end up with a full-size standard window.

Anyone ever done this? How much does it cost? What company to use.

If you have stucco on the outside, then your house could be either concrete block of poured-in-place concrete. If so, it will be a lot of work and involve several different trades. Any good general contractor could do it, but it will be expensive, messy, and will require a county building permit. I would get three quotes and see if it is still worth it.

Unless you go with the same width window it will be a lot of work like was said.

Do you live in a courtyard villa? Is this the wall that is right on the lot line?

Be sure you get ARC approval before proceeding.

we converted a window opening to a door in a stucco/block home we had in Ft Lauderdale about 5 years ago

no matter how much plastic you put up, you're gonna have a constant mess with fine dust all over the house....how it even got into the garage still is a mystery

we used a single contractor....different trades were involved...there was a lot more to the job, so I can't give you even a ball park on what just enlarging a window would have cost back then

Not a villa. Probably 15 ft between houses.

I would highly recommend T&D windows division.

The main reasoning is that they most likely built your house. At the very least they put in your windows and they did the stucco exterior.

They would know the exact window that you presently have and could do a complete one stop shop for you including the much needed ARC approval. Don't let some/any company tell you that you don't need that approval. They have different divisions, when the block work is finished the next crew comes in and you simply write the check.

Better to know what is or is not allowed at your particular location.

Block homes are modified all the time. I second the recommendation for T&D. And/or, D&D Village Construction.

Because it's an exterior change, you also need ARC approval, in addition to county permit(s).
