Geo-thermal A/C, any in TV?

Wow, the savings must be remarkable, they say as much as $250 a month...Initial cost is more but pays for itself after a few months.....Any pros or cons?...Anything better out there?

On another thread today, the energy cost in a 1600 ft home was 116/month. Hard to save 250/month with those numbers.

Makes me think that SECO would owe me very month if I went Geo-thermal.

Sounds like a great deal!!!

JE - Do you have any links so I can figure out what you're referring to?

Thanks for the info but do you have any links to websites that show the units and how much they cost to retrofit your current system?

Impossible to do a cost analysis unless you know the exact amount to purchase and install the unit.

In Cincinnati

They are promoting geothermal systems especially for winter heating. Winter heating was costing us over $400.00/mo. in 2008. We knew we were going to leave in a few years, which was two years ago, So we didn't do the change but the savings would have been significant and payback in less than 6 years. One of the negatives is that if you are putting your house on the market geothermal systems may be a drawback. It's not commonly understood and most potential buyers may shy away from such a system.

My cousin, a farmer in Iowa, uses one of his farm ponds for the geothermal heat transfer for the past 20 years and his utility bills are very low. Less than $50.00 Mo. in the dead of winter. So it does work and work well.
