Doughnuts & Covid-19

Well, I'm now making my own doughnuts because of our having to stay inside due to our compromised health conditions.

Without Amazon, instacart and curbside pick-up we would have put ourselves at greater risk.

So, I bought 2 doughnut pans and finally got around to using them. A plain old baked doughnut cake recipe with a chocolate glaze is my first venture into the world of tasty cakes!

It couldn't have been easier and the taste could only be better had they been fried in fat.

Now, the cost for my first batch of 9 doughnuts including buying the pans and ingredients was $18. That's only $2 per doughnut and my next batch will be only $1 per donut then it will go down from that!

Oh, delightful! Could you post the recipe for that, and the glaze? Or share a link?

we keep finding new recipes to try. Yesterday was apple cake and that was a lot more apple than cake but very good and relatively healthy.

I been having stuffed peppers two times week from my pepper plants and they really haven’t started producing yet. When the do I’m going to Be up to my ears in 6 varieties of pepper’s. Going to have to find some more recipes. Got 12 half pints canned so far and another batch of hot pepper flakes drying. Going to try hot banana flakes also. I pulled two 2 1/2 foot banana’s plants out cause they were too hot for me to eat.

Sounds great to me. I haven't found any really great outlets for cake donuts around TV anyway.

The Most Amazing Chocolate Donuts - Pretty. Simple. Sweet.

I'm not overly impressed with this glaze/topping for a donut. The donut itself was decent though I'd try it but adding a touch more flour to make it a bit more dense than this recipe. Ill try it again and maybe make a confectionery sugary glaze for it! Can't go wrong with more sugar!

But I like the idea of baking donuts like this. Only 3 more left!!!

IMHO the best cake doughnut can be achieved only by frying it in gobs of oil. There is nothing like that inside part that has a bit of a crunchy/crispy fried in oil thing going on!

Use peanut oil, it’s supposed to be good for you? Probably the healthiest part of the donut?

Once you bake a donut to almost done, remove from pan. When you want to eat throw in air fryer makes them crispy just like frying without the extra oil

What a great idea!! Thank you.

I just happen to have one of those sitting on the counter wondering what else can I use it for! I love cooking a thick pork chop with montreal steak seasoning on it in the air fryer also wings slightly marinated in hot sauce and some of my own taco seasoning.

Why not pass on the donuts and eat healthy?

Great for your heart

Peanut oil not any healthier than vegetable oil. A donut will absorb 25 to 30% fat so not all that healthy.
