Bloody Chicago recorded 18 murders on May 31, making it the city’s deadliest day in 60 years.

The dubious milestone was reached on a day Chicago was roiled by another round of protests and looting following the Memorial Day death of George Floyd in police custody in Minneapolis.

The 18 deaths tallied by the University of Chicago Crime Lab made May 31, 2020 the single-most violent day in six decades, the Chicago Sun-Times reported Monday. The Crime Lab numbers go back only to 1961.

The message of historical killing in a 24 hour period pretty much ignored, by some.

I am not sure who "you people" are. Apparently the "you people" are bad people. I know I read the post, therefore I am a "you people" and I know I am a good people. Hmm, something is amiss.

And others blaming it on politics. Chicago was the murder capital of the U.S. long before our current politics.

Your title makes it seem like there were 60 killings in Chitown which may make people read your post but not telling the truth although a trend in this country is not right. It is tragic what is happening in Chicago with I guess 7 killings according to everything I have read. There were 6 in Miami. Big Cities have gangs, drugs and lots of crazies. All I can say is glad I am in the bubble.

I am a Ex Chicagoan and its a beautiful city. I don’t understand why the crime is not seen on TV. I believe Chicago needs more programs for children/teenagers and more vocational schools, sports centers. Many high profile people are from the city, why can’t they donate funds to start programs. The murdered children/teens/adults are someone children and it’s heartbreaking. I am just hitting on the surface and I know it’s deeper but we have the smartest people in the world please let’s do something. I think the police is doing their best their hands are tied too!
