How old were you/your adult kids when you moved to The Villages?

We're in our mid 50's (54 & 56), our youngest will be off to college soon and we're starting to think about what we would like our retirement to be in the not so distant future - time really does fly! We'll be visiting The Villages soon to check things out and it made me curious to know: How old were you when you decided to move to The Villages? How old were your adult kids when you made the decision?

I've heard TV described as being like a cruise ship on land. Has that been your experience living in TV?

I was 55 when we decided to move to The Villages. Unfortunately we won't get there until I'm 60. We have no kids..

To clarify, we're probably a few years from actually moving in to TV ourselves. I would imagine that both of our kids will be in their 20's and graduated or very close to be graduated from college by the time we make the move.

Purchased when in college, moved after they graduated.

53 when we purchased and moved in, our sons were in their early 30s and were not a consideration on our decision to move to The Villages.

Every child was (is) in their 20s, while we are the OPs age.

The childrens location was considered (grand kids) but dismissed when they moved to a higher COL state with bad weather.

58 and 59 when we purchased. Kids are 27 and 29. Retired but not here full-time yet.

70 when we decided to move to TV...oldest kid was 49, youngest 38

prior to covid-10 this place was hopping, something for everybody to do, but the sidewalks did roll up after 9pm except for a couple of bars...it's starting to coming back

Moved in 2014 at Sixty and our Son was 28.

Moved here at 70, kids all in their 40's. We rented here for 6 winters before buying. Grandkids come into play mores than adult children, more than you might think, they tend to change your retirement plans somewhat.

Parents had retired to Sarasota/Bradenton area back in the 80's so came to FL every year several times and pretty familiar with life here. Originally thought Maui would be our retirement home but 3rd world health system and rising COL changed our minds. Came to TV 2/16 to visit friends and fell in love with it. Bought in right then at 68. Kids all 32+ at that time but they love that we are much closer to them and they have free lodging near Disney World :D

They called us 'babies' when we went for our Village ID lol

We were 57 (now both 59, we are part timers until we retire) and our kids were 31 and 33 respectively.

We love cruising and no -- I would say that is an overstatement because you still fend for yourselves for food <wink> But yes, so many things to do. So many nice people to meet. We looked at 7 cities for retirement (and visited all of them) and like so many others, once we got to The Villages for our visit; we bought a house after being on the ground for about 36 hours.

Our kids were in their 30s. Their residence nor grands have nothing to do with purchase.

Oldest is now shopping for a home in the south, just turned 47.
