Visitors during Covid
 

In today's paper there is a picture of a 10 year old in a pool who is visiting her grand parents. The girl is from Long Island, NY

I think its too early to readily accept guests from one of the high covid exposure areas.

Be considerate of your fellow villagers--if it hits here, it will hit hard

We are putting off visits north or south until a viable vaccine is ready....

same with us....not accepting requests from family or friends to come and visit, nor do we plan to visit anyone until there is a vaccine. Disappointing, but we really want to be able to spend as much of our kid's inheritance on ourselves as possible before we have to hang it all up (and they approve) lol

We use the app Marco Polo, Facebook, email, snail mail and the good old fashion phone (okay it's a smart phone, but you know what I mean) to stay connected.

Hopefully our kids will come down before too long. Thinking we would all get tested just before they would drive down to make sure all are ok.

So what?

We avoid being in close contact with everyone whether they be 10 or 100.

Infection can occur from the moment after a person gets tested. Keep that in mind.

We know but if we all take all possible precautions we should be ok.

However we are not ready to do this yet.

No biggie, just don't go near them if you're that afraid.

They probably have been in shutdown for quite some time. Unless they were violating that, they should be ok.

I'd be worried about New Yorkers too! They're winding down to all time lows while Florida setting record numbers of infected. New Yorkers would be smart to stay home, they're safer!

Since most schools have been closed for months there have been lots of kids around since late March easily recognized driving golf carts like they were toys. Send 'em down to grandma and grandpa to get 'em out of mom and dad's hair. :)

My advice to people traveling to Sumter county is to look at the Johns Hopkins COVID-19 status report for Sumter county.
As of June 17, 2020 the county case fatality rate is 6.34%. Florida's case fatality rate is 3.74%. Sumter county is a Florida hotspot according to Johns Hopkins. Many people will say I'm stupid but dead is dead.

We're holding off visiting again and looking for a home for a while, for the reasons stated.

NY cases are lower than Florida. New Yorkers have been very good about the quarantine. Places are just starting to open with restrictions. Looks a lot better than Florida where I see people all over each other in bars and restaurants with no masks. Be afraid of that, not so much New Yorkers where (except for rioters) you are not allowed anywhere without a mask. Also, for all who are afraid to leave your house, stay inside where you are safe until there is a vaccine. That could be long after some of us are gone. Are you going to be the first in line for the vaccine? I’m not. It needs to be tested a lot longer than a few months as far as I’m concerned. I know everyone is worried and rightfully so. The only answer for you is to stay put. Some of us are ready to live again. Cautiously, of course.
