Water cooler

I am thinking of purchasing a water cooler for my home...I am tired of purchasing small water bottles. I just don't know the do's and don'ts such as which is the best, does it have a filter should I get a refillable bottle and where do I refill it or should I have the water delivered. I would appreciate some advice, thank you in advance

We went with a whole house water filter and a water softener, then we get all the cool water we want from the refrigerator. IMHO what you will end up spending on bottled water in 1 year will pay for the system I described. Note the softener was for washing, etc and has nothing to do with the taste of the water.

To directly answer your question. The bottles can be refilled at walmart.

The 'coolers' as people use the term are either room temperature dispensers which can be used tabletop or on a stand.

None of these have filters.

The refrigerated coolers come in two flavors, with a compressor (like a fridge). Or a compressor-less one which cools the water 30 degrees from ambient temp. The latter being cheaper.

All of these products are available from Amazon. All beat a rental/delivery arrangement. The five gallon plastic carboy is also sold in a three gallon size.

Separate from all mentioned above is a Berkey (there is no l) brand or style of filter. These are a two part dispenser/filter. You fill the top with tap water and it slowly fills the lower dispenser half. Similar in concept to a Britta but the filtration makes a Britta seem like a child's toy. Again Amazon.

McCullough Water is a local distributor. They have bottled water delivery, including coolers, and water treatment options. Delivery is of course more expensive but there's something to be said for convenience. I've used them before and was very satisfied with their products and service.

Their website has all the info.
