Direct TV
Has anyone had problems with Direct TV? We have Xfinity and it is terrible. We had direct tv in NY and it was excellent but not sure if our problem is with the company (Xfinity) or just the general Cable/internet all around.

I've had Directv since 2008. No problems, I actually had HD reception all the way through Hurricane Irma. It's costs more than streaming, but I like having the on-screen guide, quick recording capability and 350+ channels.
The biggest complaint I see posted on here is about twice a year you might lose reception during a heavy downpour for ten minutes or so. You have two options, most people aren't aware of this. The easiest is to put on a recorded program on your DVR, I have about 80 movies right now, or switch to the backup channel, the SD Standard Definition. Let's say you're watching TNTHD on Channel 245, bring up the on-screen guide, then select all channels and the channels that you have hidden will reappear. Chose channel 245 that doesn't have the HD after it, and you'll get a slightly less clear version of the channel 99% of the time. |

We have xfinity and it has been fine.
Only little complaint was when we were in Va and had Dish our remote could be programmed to automatically zap thru commercials, now we have to do it each time. As our daughter would say First World Problem. |

Started watching shark tank and lots of zapping required. |
I have Direct TV. Last season I followed "Killing Eve" and "The Sinner". One is on BBCTV. The other USA network. Now both shows are not available. Direct TV says content is unavailable try later? These are not premium channels and I am paying a small fortune every month. Very frustrating!

I had Direct TV since I moved here, however in the last two years they kept jacking up my cost and finally when it got to be close to $300 a month I switched. I am now with Xfinity and I have no problem with them, and if I did I would make an appointment at their store in Rolling Acres rather than bother phoning.
With Direct I did lose the dish whenever we had a heavy rain or a summer storm, and then my neighbor's palms grew so tall they blocked my dish and my picture became pixelated whenever the wind blew. Having WiFi is just so much easier. I will add I am having a very weird problem. I have Prime and two other streaming channels which I buy on an annual basis and now I find I have so much to watch it really is difficult to make up my mind what I want. :icon_wink: |
