First Black Billionaire Mocks Cancel Culture and the Anarchists Toppling Statues

I have noticed that most of the groups currently defacing and tearing down statues are mostly white. What started with confederate generals has now expanded to former Presidents including Lincoln, former Union Generals like Grant, even Miguel de Cervantes, himself a former slave.

So I found these comments by Robert Johnson, founder of BET and America's first black billionaire interesting.

“Look, the people who are basically tearing down statues, trying to make a statement are basically borderline anarchists, the way I look at it,” Johnson told Fox News on Wednesday. “They really have no agenda other than the idea we’re going to topple a statue.”

“It’s not going to give a kid whose parents can’t afford college money to go to college. It’s not going to close the labor gap between what white workers are paid and what black workers are paid. And it’s not going to take people off welfare or food stamps,” Johnson insisted.

He insisted that the rioters tearing down statues “have the mistaken assumption that black people are sitting around cheering for them saying, ‘Oh, my God, look at these white people. They’re doing something so important to us. They’re taking down the statue of a Civil War general who fought for the South.'”

“You know, black people, in my opinion, black people laugh at white people who do this the same way we laugh at white people who say we got to take off the TV shows."

Robert Johnson also supports trillions in reparations for slavery, something I don't agree with. But there's no law that says I have to agree with everything someone thinks or says. There's only one person I agree with 100% of the time. :)

I have also seen numerous reports that the families/descendants of many of the former women who portrayed Aunt Jemima are furious about the rebranding. They feel their family history is being erased and say these women were not slaves and enjoyed their nicely paying jobs. Google it if you care to read the reports. I also searched for families of former Aunt Jemimas support rebranding efforts, couldn't find any. If you search that, all you get are reports of them mad about the rebranding.

I think most of his points are pretty obvious. But, does being a billionarie make your opinion more valuable?

No it doesn't make it more valuable. Johnson parents were a school teacher mother and a farmer father and they had 10 children. The fact that he went on to graduate from Princeton and became a billionaire by creating the first cable network aimed at African Americans certainly makes him worth listening to on what blacks are thinking.

I think his opinions on cancel culture and statue toppling are correct in that it is driven by white's mostly.

Bottom line is the people doing the destruction should fined themselves in a jail cell very quickly

I also think the voices of various descendants of the Aunt Jemimas speak louder than all the wokeologists in the world.

Why is this destruction being allowed? When will it stop? These hooligans need to be arrested and severely punished. I'm dam well sick of this crap being allowed to continue. Of course the media keeps feeding the flames.

Which poses a bigger threat to black communities: Racism? Or the absence of fathers?

OK, I'll post this again then too, which goes a long ways in explaining the low #'s of black father's, since so many are in prison for much longer periods...than whites for the exact same offenses.

I don't understand rebranding either. There have been updates through the years and I would feel the same way as the family that I would rather they keep her picture on the label. We have come a long way from the bandana wrapped around Mammy's head and the updated labelling, in my humble opinion, was lovely.

But because of "certain people" that hate Police Officers and are trying to pass bills aimed against Police Officers, this will never happen.

And to hear that these bills are being created in memory of a convicted felon; a person, that among many other criminal acts, once held a gun to the stomach of a pregnant woman - VERY DISGUSTING THAT THIS IS HAPPENING.

Finally. An opinion that makes sense. Of course, all this rioting isnt for anything but thugs wanting to loot n destroy. And theyre trying to use the “poor blacks need to be freed” stance. Well, I didnt own slaves, i dont think there is anyone alive today who was a slave. Its history!! They need to stop this garbage, get a job and stop acting like animals in a zoo

mamamia54 06-26-2020 05:42 AM

Is his opinion more valuable because he is a billionaire, no. His opinion is valuable because he sounds like he has a mind and brain that works. Which some people today seem to lack.

In North Dakota they made the University (UND) drop its 'Fighting Sioux' name but the tribe still wanted it....let's move on to important issues

You could end this destruction. If arrested for this destruction you lose your free government money.

Everything bothers them. Just the beginning.
