White's Furniture & La-Z-Boy.....Buyer Beware!

1 Attachment(s)
Never buy a patterned La-z-Boy piece of furniture from this establishment that could have a visible seam in the middle front of a $1300 recliner. Patterns are presented on-line as perfectly matched and aligned. When delivered unaligned, employees act like its a fixable issue. Return or refund is 3 days from delivery. White’s representative comes for review, agrees that its unacceptable in the current condition, indicates again it is totally fixable, either by total new back piece, or single fabric replacement of seamed piece. White’s La-z-Boy Liaison calls La-z-Boy who states that we , the customer, should accept the chair’s mismatched unaligned seam down the front, no repairs and no replacement. White’s will not have their in-house upholsterer look at or repair. We are left with no resolution and a $1300 ugly chair.

This issue was unresolved for 1 month.

We chose La-z-Boy in order to Buy American. Is this the workmanship we should expect????

Probably should have rejected delivery on the spot.

sounds like the quality control guy at the factory is a lazy boy himself

this never should have been shipped and disappointing to hear that White's isn't willing to make it right for you

Had similar problem with Lazy Boy and Whites.

Finally agreed to replace faulty chair. Faulty chair was on sale for $1,000. Had to pay difference of $500 more to get the same chair since it was no longer on sale.

Bottom line, don't buy Lazy Boy and don't buy anything from Whites.

So sorry for your trouble. Some years ago, we ordered two custom small recliners from Lazy-Boy through White's. After a month or so, the fabric on one of them appeared to have ripped.

Fortunately, we bought insurance to fix or replace damage due to any cause. White's ordered more of the same fabric and repaired the chair. Upon examining the damaged piece, there was a long clean slit that could only have happened at the factory. So much for quality control.

Does this mean it is now resolved after one month? I see a similar chair available for less on Wayfair with the same back configuration. La-Z-Boy Jasper 22" Manual Wall Hugger Recliner | Wayfair

We got one Laz-e-boy recliner at Whites about eight years ago and two at Babbettes about four years ago and no problems.

guess Whites lost any future business from me.

retiredguy123 07-17-2020 03:16 PM

I wouldn't give up until the La-z-Boy company told me in writing that the recliner is in compliance with their standard product construction with respect to matching patterns at the fabric seams.

I just find it weird that there is a seam there in the first place. Unless the picture is not showing entire piece, I just recovered a love seat with no season front or back.

If this is common for lazy boy on thos exact piece have Whites exchange with their floor sample, so customer knows how the seam will look.

The photo is showing the part of the chair where your back rests. Many recliners are designed with one of two vertical seams on the back.
