Internet services

Who is the best provider for fast internet speeds. We stream everything. We have purchased a home in TV and are making the gradual move down. In the meantime, we need internet service during our monthly visits. Any suggestions? We're currently in MD and have Verizon. Thanks for any advice.

It depends entirely on your village. You will probably have 2 choices, maybe three. Pick the best deal. I would just like to add that most people drastically over estimate their bandwidth needs. Standard HD streams use at most about 8mbits, most are 4-6mbit. Netflix's 4k stream uses 25mbits but you have to pay extra for 4k and few people do. I am a fairly heavy internet user as I have been a programmer and networking professional for 30 years. I often work remotely and I manage my company's WAN and global connections to our remote facilities. I understand this very very well. When we bought, we did our first year on the Xfinity 25mbit starter plan for $20/month. Everything worked just fine as we are only streaming, no cable box. Even when both TVs are streaming and we're looking at our phones at the same time, no issues. Don't get me wrong, I love a fast download, considering we have twin 5GB pipes at work. Most people aren't slinging gigs all day long though or running E-commerce sites so 25-50-100mbit is more than enough for a retired couple.

Good luck!

If you want a specific answer you need to state where you bought . For example, I live in The Village of Caroline by Lake Sumter. To my knowledge you have two choices. The phone company Century Link and Xfinity. I have had Century Link for 14 years. They advertise 10 MBPS but I only get 3 MBPS download speed. They do not have Fiber and have no plans that I Know of, for installation. I can stream Amazon Prime to one TV without buffering , but things change if computer is also being used. The Xfinity option can provide needed MBPS. I just switched and on my way to streaming but taking in steps. Currently trying Magic Jack, but that is turning into a disaster. That happened because, when I cancelled internet from CL, the Phone rate was going up.

Your options will vary by area. So the above is meaningless to you if you bought elsewhere.

I have Xfinity (Comcast) for internet signal only for about 2 years and very I'm happy with their service. Had Century Link dump them because of their slow internet service in my area....

I live in Pine Hills (right next to Pine Ridge) and use Century Link 100 MBPS. Works pretty well most of the time (we stream with 3 fire sticks). We pay $49 per month- no contract but auto pay.
