I'm looking to buy a new Car here in the Villages..... where to go?
 

I like having a new car, and it's time to upgrade. I'd like to buy something local here in the Villages and surrounding area. I don't know anything about the local dealers. I'd appreciate any input, or experiences you've had.

My theory is that the dealer really doesn't matter. Research what car you want, do your homework on how much the car is worth, and locate the car in the local area dealer inventory online. Then, go to the dealership and test drive the car. You should be able to buy the car for the KBB.com or Edmunds.com fair value price from any dealer. If you depend on the dealer to advise you and play games with you, you will get ripped off. Car dealers hate me because I refuse to negotiate with them. After you buy the car, you can have the warranty work done at any dealership.

To get your best deal you may want to check out this web site. I've used James Bragg's program in the past he has an interesting way of car shopping and you may just get the best deal you can. You do need to focus in on the brand, model car and options.

His program is involved but he says the best time to put out bids to dealerships is the last week of the quarter. The theory is with manufacturers kickbacks based on a predetermined quotas will have the dealer sell well below cost if they are short of meeting their quota. They stand to make lots more $$$ when they meet their quotas so come crunch time at the end of the quarter they will make a deal that benefits the consumer. He also writes you never enter the showroom. You basically do a write in/email program that tells the dealer in the next week I’m going to buy a car and I would like you to bid and give me a price. Of course you have to contact 3 or more dealers with your bid requests. Even if you don’t use his service it’s worth the $49.95 to get the materials you need to purchase one car, if you need more info on other than a single vehicle choice it will cost you an additional $15 per additional car.

They have excellent discounts on some models. I deal with Scott Moll. He is very knowledgeable. I purchased an Equinox SUV. 😉

I have been satisfied with Phillips Toyota in Leesburg.

You also might consider using a car buying service -- Sam's Club offers one and there are several online. I used the one through USAA.

Even if you enjoy the give and take of haggling in person or want to trade in your existing car, you can still go directly to the dealer's website and get a firm price quote for a specific model.

Low doc fees. This link is to their cars that have not been in an accident. Many of the rest of the inventory has minor to severe damage but they have been fixed and give you a report on it. I prefer pre-owned and save thousands. Some with remaining factory warranty

I did my research on the cars I was interested in. I went to car dealers in Leesburg and Ocala. The salesmen I dealt with at all dealerships seemed to think I should pay sticker price or after consultation with their boss they could take off $150 or a few dollars more. I refused to get ripped off so I put buying a new car on the back burner since there was no rush. One day I went to Phillips Buick on 441 to look not buy. Phillips took thousands off sticker price and Offered such a FAIR price on my trade in ( which other dealers lowballed) I had no choice but to buy the car. Phillips has other brand car dealerships around the Villages. I would highly recommend Phillips based on my experience.
