Some are now being sent to the scrap yards. Sovereign and Monarch of the Seas in June. Smaller ships are also headed there. There was a time when they could be sold to smaller cruise lines, now those lines might be out of business soon. The cruise industry will look very different when it returns.

. . we were to be on a 2-week Royal Carrib Med cruise next month - we cancelled 2 months ago. Full refund of our deposit. Hopefully will go next year. But cruising will be so different-when it gets back. A cruise ship is like a huge Petri dish. No matter what precautions taken, the Virus could still be an issue. One guest brings it aboard, and BAM!!! that ship and cruise is done. Too bad as that industry was a great booming one thru the 2010's... sad. And our flights to Barcelona, never booked thankfully, were another disincentive to go... . . |

You can find the location of your favorite ship with MarineTraffic.com.
Most of the service is free and ship locations are provided by AIS receivers on land. When I lived by the ocean I sent reports to the marine traffic website. |
