Here's a great shredding event:

Before moving I took shreddable paper to the UPS store- call first as one local shop was $.49/lb and another was $.99/lb. You put it in a big container yourself after weighing and I felt safe that it was confidential. I had too much to use my personal shredder and I always make such a mess emptying that thing.

Last year yes but with Covid it might be scaled back. Check the paper sometimes it’s at different shopping centers usually at Target Lady Lake

For bulk shredding I go to Office Depot across from Walmart. You can watch them do it in person...I feel more comfortable seeing it done...

The Villages has never sponsored a shredding event since I have been here. The POA has.

Fredman 09-01-2020 06:59 PM

I think staples does shredding

Chitown 09-01-2020 10:21 PM

Stu, your bad but I’ll send my wife over to see your wife to fill out an application

bowlingal 09-02-2020 06:31 AM

Linda, it has been at the Lowes on 466A but, because of the virus who knows? always check the paper for info...it will be advertised. also on the villages.com site

Staples and office Depot charge .99 cents per pound. I take mine to Shred It in Ocala. They charge $15 for 3 office boxes. You can watch them shred your stuff. (they are the ones that pick up from from all the stores in The Villages)

I find that having a small shredder of my own makes the most sense for me. I'm able to shred in the moment and avoid having a pile of things collecting dust waiting for me to truck it off somewhere to be shredded. The added plus is that I have packing material on hand whenever I ship something fragile to the grandkids.

It all comes down to personal choice.

I heard of one time so it's not publicized. Staples has a service by the pound.

The Poa shredding event will be held in November. You will need to be a member as it is a ticketed event. Check out their website poa4us.org. There is still time to
Join to participate $10 a year per household.
