RE: Tank. Do it. We have a 150 gallon buried for Dacor stovetop ( highly recommend) and grill. 4 years and no problems. I don't think you need architectural approval since it's buried. T&D Gas or Suburban Gas will install and certify.

RE: Paint color. Call Warranty Office.

Have had propane in ground (PIG) for 8+ years for gas stove, grill and smoker without an issue. Love it. We went with Suburban Propane and are on an average bill of $25 per month. Don't remember the install cost but they took care of any approvals, if required.

Is this(buried tank) just allowed in certain areas of TV?

We have a buried tank for our spa. For some reason (done before we bought house) T&D put the tank on the opposite side of the driveway from the spa heater. If you get a tank - don't do that if you can help it.

our home insurance agent wanted to know if we had a propane tank buried on the lot...so you may want to check with your insurance agent on what the implications will be to your coverage / insurance cost should you go that route
