Front entry doors

Driving around, there are various entry doors. Are the ones that look like wood, really wood, or fiberglass to look like wood? Thinking about replacing mine, pros and cons?

I replaced my front door with a really nice fiberglass model from Lowes, and had them install it. I had it painted at the factory, so it's perfect. I love it and would buy it from Lowes again.

Our last wood door rotted and had to be replaced.

We also purchased a new one made from fiberglass from Lowes and was very happy with it while still living in Va.

If we had to replace our current door wood definitely go the same way again.

Keep in mind that exterior doors must meet code and hurricane standards. There is a wind rating that must be met.

ours is fiberglass/plastic...but looks like wood

when we were in Ft Lauderdale most of our exterior doors were metal...we had a wooden side door going into the garage, which we replaced twice before installing a metal door there as well

a neighbor in Ft Lauderdale was actually stuck inside her home after hurricane Wilma because the wooden door had swollen from the rain constantly hitting it and she couldn't push it open it from the inside...took us awhile to get her out

wooden doors just don't stand up well to all the rain and humidity in FL

Ours is fiberglass and looks like wood. Some of my neighbors have wood and have a hard time keeping them refinished because of the sun.
