Bird trying to get in

There is a small grey bird, about the size of a small parakeet or lovebird that keeps flying from my lemon tree to the screen on my window. Back and forth, back and forth. Then it flew away and about an hour later was back at it and flew away again. Anyone know what kind of bird or why it might be doing this?

Looks like a Mockingbird. It's the Fl state bird.

The first picture kinda looks like tuffed titmouse, but the second don’t and I don’t see crown?

He might be picking bugs off of your screen.

Villageswimmer 10-03-2020 02:32 PM

You might try hanging strips of aluminum foil to scare it away before it damages your screen. It’s so cute!

Its much smaller than a mocking bird and its not eating bugs. I stand there and watch it and it just flies to the screen, looks around, flies back to bush and starts again. It is adorable though

I googled it. It IS a tufted titmouse! Thank you!

Could he/she possibly be seeing itself in the reflection of your window and is looking for a new friend?

Great job of capturing this pic, especially through the screen. Sounds like the bird is attracted to something on the other side of the screen - shiny window? a reflective image somehow?

tsmall22204 10-04-2020 04:57 AM

The mockingbird is not the Florida state bird. The Mia Soul is.

Cute. Maybe search online for tufted titmouse behaviors. Could be a territorial behavior but that’s usually seen during nesting season

I believe it’s a blue-gray gnatcatcher.

We get them every Spring and Fall- it is their reflection they are relentlessly tapping at! We see the tufted titmice and another species with reddish caps on their head. Very annoying at 7:00 am- little alarm clocks!
