Vet Bills...Ugh!
Does anyone know of vets in the area with "health care plans" that can help with vet bills? I'm not sure if they are the same as dog insurance? Any info would be soooo appreciated!
I have VPI insurance for my dog and, although it sounded great, it only covers a very small %. |
Banfield at PetSmart has such a plan. We have used it since we moved here last year and been very happy. Our annual vet bills have gone down by using this plan.

What would a health care plan like this consist of ? what would you say the cost is ?
We have always had dogs ---(Kelsie, as per the name . who we had to have "put to sleep" recently. ) We have never had a "plan" and really dont kow anyone who has here in NY any info would be appreciated Thanks :beer3: |
Since we moved so often we have always taken our dog to Banfield at Petsmart. We have the insurance. I think the cost ranges from $20 something a month to like $35 a month. You don't pay for office visits, shots, they get blood work I think twice a yr and xrays and teeth cleaned once a year. You get discounts on other things. If they need medicine you do have to pay for that. If your dog is in good health and just needs like his yearly shots it would probably be a lot cheaper to take him to a private vet.

Care Credit works for Vets too.
It's not a "plan", but it has sure helped us. Both of our dogs are Medical Rescues, one requires an average of $300 in medication and care a month... after donations of time, and resources from his Vet. Like I said, it's not a "health care plan" or insurance.. its a 6, 12, of 18 month interest free credit card.. Just a suggestion. Peace and Love |
Gold Mine Here
:ohdear:Vet bills are exactly why we will not have any more pets here. We had 2 dogs and 2 cats when we first came. We have since lost our dogs who both lived long, happy lives. The vet bills here were more for 1 dog than for all 4 pets in Amarillo. Just before the cats turned 10, the vet wanted us to start bringing them in on a semi-annual basis for "wellness checks" to the tune of $200 plus. They are going on 12 now and are healthy and happy without seeing the vet every few months so that I can answer the vet's questions about how whether or not they have any issues with eating, etc. and pay lotsa money on the way out.
