Junk Sheriff Cars

Has the Sumter County Sheriff run out of places to park his old patrol cars? They have appeared on a number of roads in TV. I assume he believes he can stop speeders by parking these old and unneeded cars on the side of our streets but they are an eyesore and should be removed. If there is a speeding problem, have the deputies do their job and write tickets. Maybe he can sell some of those unneeded vehicles and gain some cash for his department.

God bless all law enforcement! Seems to be a thankless job these days.

Few drive down BV or Morse 35 MPH, in most spots. Add el Camino Reno too.

Thank you for your expert opinion. Did you feel nervous when you saw the car and immediately slowed sown? Glad to see you noticed. :girlneener:

Going to get worse sorry to say.

They slow people down, and I don't think they are eyesores.

After 48 hours noticing the vehicles not being moved defeats the purpose. On St Charles during the summer grass had grown up to the tire rims. We don't speed and in no way comes close to scaring some.

We don't speed (our cart is locked on 20) but we even slow down to see if someone is in it once in awhile. THAT would be a good deterrent if they put someone in it once in awhile.

IMHO little chance of getting anything more for these old vehicles beyond scrap value

by the time the Sheriff is ready to mothball a used patrol car it is practically worthless....hundreds of thousands of miles on them, an interior worn out and a dash riddled with holes from equipment that had been installed and removed, if the tires were in good shape they've been replaced with worn out tires from another vehicle...replacement parts are expensive because the cars are designed for high performance and are built differently than the cars sold to John Q. Public...add to that the cost of repainting it...

Life is good when this is all you can complain about.

Do you really think these vehicles if not used by deputies are worth very much?

Second that ! "old junk cars" ? WHERE ? Haven't seen any old junkers parked through the villages, thought I got out quite a bit, guess not....LOL ! I do agree that some of these tandem trucks rumbling through here at unbelievable speeds on these narrowed (due to golf carts running along side) streets is out of hand and very dangerous, VERY. It any one attempts to drive the speed limit, they just lay on their horns and make nasty remarks.
