Republican Message?

Finally someone wrote what I have been thinking. We really need to decrease our spending to survive and we need to start with shrinking government.

1994 did not go far enough!!!!!

I seem to remember that the deficit increased significantly under GWB. Oh, I forgot that was Bill Clinton's fault.

When Economic Policy became Social Policy

Of course this policy was initiated under a Democrat president and Democrat Congress.

Surely, the republicans can drive that home.
But SOON, they must begin to tell their story on WHAT they can do and HOW they will do it. All that rhetoric is not going to get Republicans elected.

MY RESPONSE...and it still applies. You cannot expect votes if you dont put forward a plan !

This November, some will be elected just as anti Washington votes, but assuming this thread is on 2012, they better get busy with the issues. Romney is always a man who seems to stay on issues and stays away from the fluff. THAT is what the Republican party AND the country needs !

PS: I might add I tried to start a thread on what to do on the deficit and got no takers. We better soon concentrate on solutions !!! If you read the archives on this forum you will find NOBODY more opposed to this administration, HOWEVER, you will not have an alternative elected with bumper stickers and sayings !

If Romney can address or successfully deflect questions and accusations about 'the Mormon issue', his record of coming in a fixing financial messes will serve him well in the campaign.

After the current Muslim 'issue' Mormon 'issues' should be a breeze?

The Democrats will probably counter with Romney being 'rich' which Romney could counter with "How's that affirmative action " working out for us?
Disclaimer:
(I say affirmative action because I see it in print frequently..whether it is the truth or not is not the issue)

If the press allows (and we know they control the spin of a story) the Mormon issue to be ANYTHING after what they ignored during the 2008 campaign then we are in big trouble.

My gut feeling is that the press was afraid to be labelled 'racist' (if against Obama) or 'sexist' (if against Clinton) but won't give a damn about offending Mormons since they are a far smaller minority.

Probably right, and I feel a tingle up my leg !!!!

I think Romneycare will turn many voters against Romney. Not to mention that he endorsed Progressive John McCain.

My opinion....Mitt Romney should have been the nominee in 2008 and I will do whatever I can do to ensure that he is the nominee in 2012. I see NOONE on the horizon with the qualifications nor the moxie that he has. NOBODY !

He does not deal with platitudes...he gets things done. He is a straight shooter and has been extremely successful in all he has done.

Would love to have seen Romney debate Obama in 2008

PS: As you may have noticed BK...I am a conservative and 110% anti Obama but getting a bit tired of the bumper sticker talk from most Republicans. Lets step up and stop doing what we criticize Obama for. There are plans...put them out there and forget the soundbites !

You don't think the Mass. healthcare will hurt him Bucco?

Guest 08-25-2010 05:43 PM

I like Gov Jindal from Louisiana and Gov Christie from NJ.

Guest 08-25-2010 05:48 PM

I also really like Christie. Jindal, although I like him, I don't believe he could win a Presidential election. I also like Rick Perry from Texas. I'm afraid he may be associated too much with the Bush family with his Texas roots. I don't know if that is a bad thing, but probably bad for a Presidential election this close to everything wrong in the world still being blamed on Bush.

Sure, but have heard him point out the differences between his Ma plan and the one we passed in congress.

I do not look for perfection (no do I care whether Chris Matthews gets a tingle)...we need someone to get the JOB DONE. Cut the bs and get to work...my opinion, Romney is that guy.

I am early with this but also looking at VPs for him :) Like the guy in NJ (Christie) another straight talker, no frills kind of guy but it is early.

I am just concerned BK that the teaparty and its ilk are making all the races about bumper stickers and that is not my cup of tea (pardon the play on words)
