Sprinklers on golf course running for hours

Our house in Valle Verde backs up to Mira Mesa golf course. Several sprinklers along the edge of the course (where it meets our property and the property next door) have been running for at least three or four hours. (It is now 3:20 p.m.)

Is there some valid reason for sprinklers to be running during the afternoon and for that long? If not, who is responsible for stuff like that? Thx.

I know when hurricane Irma went through they ran the sprinklers overtime to lower the water level on the courses and retention ponds. But unless you notice the ponds at capacity I would suspect either the sprinkler valve is stuck open or the timer has a fault.

Most retention pond are connected with transfer pipes to control water level. I suspect they are lowering retention pond with excess water? If it’s causing damage to you’re property call. The should be running all the sprinkle stations and not just one in you’re backyard?

It's not causing any problem for us. I just wanted to make sure there wasn't some issue that was causing a major waste of water.

The sprinklers are all part of the integrated water management system. If they are running for a long time, they are lower the retention pond water levels

six months after we moved here a hurricane hit....the huge sprinklers on the golf courses ran for days on end to draw down the water in the retention pools.....
It's great when a plan actually works

You can’t waste waste water.
