Golf rain check policy

It appears in championship golf course rain checks for 2021 will only be issued for inclement weather, according to the policy posted. So I guess no more "I'm having a really bad round, think I'll get a rain check for the second nine."

That has always been the "written policy". I'm sure in the future, the pro shops will be flexible with it as in the past. Don't bitch until (if) it happens.

Has the language changed?

I suspect, but don't know for sure, that this rain check policy has been their official one for years. It is there mostly to explain the rules about how many holes you have played to get a rain check. I suspect last year's flyer like this had the same language.

That's what the printed policy has always stated.........

I know folks who have been issued rain checks because their backs started to hurt. Not sure if they'd let you go to the well too often for that. My experience, which is minimal, and I've never had to quit due to injury (yet) is that they are pretty reasonable.

Remember a guy some years ago arguing vehemently for a rain check , as he had only played three holes on Truman exec. before the rain came down.
Office marshal could not get the guy to understand that he didn't pay for the round, so there were no rainchecks on executive courses!

Some People

That’s hilarious... but some people have dementia issues and there’s just no reasoning.

This has always been the written policy. People who set out to play only 9 holes, during 18 hole only wave times, ABUSE this policy. They whine , complain and make up excuses, to be given rain checks. Golf Course staff, who give out the rain checks, not in accordance with the written policy, are enabling this ABUSE. It’s unfair, to intentionally allow golfers to play 9 holes, during 18 hole waves. Golf Course staff, should stop this process, because it’s incongruous to written policy and to all other golfers. BTW, having a bad round is not a legitimate reason to be “granted” a rain check.

If having a bad round was a legitimate reason, I could get a rain check every round!:icon_wink:

They are taking up legitimate 18 hole tee times for sure but I kinda like it when the group in front of you that you have been waiting on every shot suddenly vanishes after 9

For now you can play 9 anytime you want. I played 9 at 11:58 at Palmer the other day. They always ask if you want 9 or 18 when you pay.

They give rainchecks if you paid the trail fee.

Never thought of that.
Do they refund trail fee, if player has used cart path for under 5 holes?
We always walk, and have own pull carts, so not an issue.

And if you have guests, it’s a nice benefit after they’ve paid $15 and only get a few holes in because of a storm
