Yamaha Cart Belts
I have a 2014 Yamaha cart with the original belts. I can't see any cracks but I'm not sure when to change them so I don't end up stranded some night. Is there a recommended time frame like there is for oil and spark plugs etc. ?

As per the owners' manual, check for frayed edges and tears. For the drive belt, a new belt is 31 mm wide. Replace when the width reaches 27 mm.

They are not that expensive to change for your piece of mind. Oil, like most engines (auto, planes, etc) 50 hours of use. |
I have a 2014 Yamaha EFI and when we first got the cart i noticed sluggish and delayed acceleration. I asked Todd Casey about it when he was doing the scheduled maintenance and he told me the OEM drive belt on that model was not designed properly, which was causing the problem. He replaced it with an upgraded belt and the cart has accelerated perfect ever since. For the low cost of a belt, replace yours. You will get better performance as well as piece of mind that your belt won't break and strand you.

It will start slipping well before it breaks
