Where to find what is in the Coronavirus Relief Bill

Why is it such a secret what is being given away in this bill? Rumors abound.

10 million to Pakistan's Gender Study, part of a 4.6 Billion foreign aid package? 89 million for new furniture for senate offices? Even people in jail will get aid???

This aid I thought was to help Americans that are having a hard time?

It's actually ironic that they're calling it a Corona Virus relief bill when a very small percentage of the money in it is going to Corona relief.

Here it is. If you read the whole thing, you'll be doing more than any representative or senator has done.

Then again, why bother to read it. It, like all bills, is intentionally written in a way to confuse the reader. No one really knows what's in it. There are 5593 pages.

If you thought the bill was to help Americans, I have a bridge for sale. But, none of these bills are a secret or need to be. The voters don't care how much of their money is wasted by the people they elect. Very sad.

Don't confuse the 5,593 page, $2.3T Consolidated Appropriations Act with the the $900B Covid relief. The Covid relief seems to be Division N of the 5,593 page document.

Google finds a number of articles with details of what is in the $900B. Two of them are:
Wall Street Journal
CBS News

Why are so many seemingly intelligent people so BADLY misinformed on this exact issue. What possible sources are they consuming that are feeding them lies?

This is extremely simple people. Two different things that get put together. That is how Congress works and always has worked. It is extremely rare for a piece of legislation to be single issue. Maybe renaming a post office.

The particulars of the final Consolidated Appropriations Act legislation is that there were two completely unrelated bills which were combined into a single piece of legislation and voted on as a package. One part was a former stand alone Covid bill, the other was a much broader bill to keep the government running and avoid yet another shutdown. In the avoid shutdown were all those items that one side of the spectrum keep screaming about not belonging in the Covid bill. And if you care to check they are almost entirely things that the White House asked for in the general NOT Covid part of that package.. like foreign aid etc.

A GOP member of the House of Representatives has attempted to make this all very clear even posting the exact language requesting funding from the POTUS's wish list for the omnibus bill along side the amount included in the Omnibus portion of the law just passed.

This fact has been pointed out repeatedly with documentation. One person has used his megaphone to lie to the American public and certain segments of the population don't fact check. But at least on this issue the truth is entirely clear to anyone who wants to check it for themself. Even FOX got the headline right in explaining that this was two bills attached together This was NOT just putting a few lines into a Covid bill to sneak it through [like the 3 martini lunch tax deduction was added]

Other links Here and HERE

To summarize: There were two separate pieces of legislation packaged into one voted Bill
A) The omnibus bill to keep the government running to which was attached
B) The Covid relief bill.

The complaints of the OP of this thread related to the Omnibus portion of the law. Now in the interest of full information.. The bulk of the Bill which you can read HERE is not the Covid portion.

In my opinion, there are two problems.

One, by combining two bills, you can't vote for one, and not the other.

And, second, both bills are spending way too much money that the country doesn't have, thereby increasing the National debt. Even the COVID part sends $600 checks to everyone making less than $75,000, even if they have a Government job and were never affected financially by the pandemic.

Keeping our government running and apparently a few other nation’s governments also. Hope you enjoy the tax increases coming but meanwhile keep on drinking the Koolaid

Lots of pork to be paid for by the increased taxes on the immediate horizon.

banjobob 01-04-2021 07:05 AM

I think the Congress should actually write a budget instead of passing omnibus spending bills loaded with “Pork” for the billionaires and lobbyists ,all those pork goodies are never removed from the bills. These total billions of wasted dollars, Congress do your damn job!

Continuing

Here is an email I sent to some friends back in April.

"We (the US government), just spent 3T$ on a stimulus package.
A friend once told me that "if you took all the wealth in the world and divided it evenly among every human on earth, within 6 months the rich would have it all back again".
Considering those 2 statements, 3T$ divided by 330M people comes out to $9,090.90 per person,
If each person (from Warren Buffet to the homeless person on the street) would have got their share, (a family of 4 would get $36,000) what would they do with it? Someone would pay their past due rent, someone head to the grocery store, someone buy a new car, someone go on a cruise, someone invest it, etc., etc. That is how an Economy works.
That leaves a lot of room for discussion. If you received $1200 then who got the rest of it, $7890.90?"

Additionally, Older Americans that have some money, but not enough to be involved in the stock market, either received 0% interest or 00.25% interest on their money. Example; $300,000 in an account that pays 00.25% = about $35 per month.
A loan of $200,000 that pays interest only @ about 5.0%, payment is almost $1,000 per month.
Banks love this interest rate.

With all due respect, if you don't believe big business has super influence on how this country is run then you're the one having deranged beliefs.

Personally, I think they should add a footnote with the name of the sponsors for each section of the bill. I'd like to know who in the hell thinks it's a good idea giving up to $1800 per illegal alien but only $600 to American citizens or securing the border between Jordan and Syria is important to American citizens or giving Pakistan $10M for gender studies.

We're borrowing money from China to pay Pakistan. This country doesn't stand a chance with the mindset of most politicians. I'll say it again; the best investments right now are gold, silver, canned goods and ammunition......

If it's a real secret, how did you hear about it? If it's just an unsubstantiated rumor, why are you sharing it with the world? This is how fake news and conspiracy theories take on a life of their own. Please don't contribute to the problem.

I agree with part of your post but the reason people don’t care is they are not paying for this spending, it is being added to National Debt for their grandchildren. If spending and taxes were 1 for 1 those 6000 pages would shrink to a very few.

Did you do any research on the material you are posting from Parler? Do you know whether these items are actually in the Covid legislation, the Omnibus legislation or just made up by some guy on the internet? This is how untrue, or call it lies, get spread on this site and so many more.

His chart is headlined to take note of item 17. 28,000,000 for additional salary for House of Representatives.

In fact, actual fact.. under existing law since 1989 the members of the House and Senate get an automatic cost of living increase yearly. However since 2009 the members of Congress have passed legislation refusing to accept that salary increase. Every single year since 2009.

Do you know any other group that has denied itself a salary increase for 11 years? And what did they do in the Legislation they just passed? They once again refused the cost of living increase. So item 17 is a lie as to the Congressmen. The employees like the secretaries and the aides and the custodians etc. did get their usual increases just like every other civilian government worker does every year. Only the actual Congressman and Senators did not get a raise.

HERE is the actual language in the law denying funding for the House and Senate members:
Quote:

20 SEC. 7. ADJUSTMENTS TO COMPENSATION.
21 Notwithstanding any other provision of law, no adjustment shall be made under section 601(a) of the Legislative Reorganization Act of 1946 (2 U.S.C. 4501) (relating to cost of living adjustments for Members of Congress)
during fiscal year 2021.
So the chart you grabbed from Parler is, I'll be generous and just say, wrong. I did not check any other items on the list but I'll guess it was done with exactly the same accuracy and honest as the item the author chose to highlight as the most important.
