Flag upside down

What is the significance of a Stars & Stripes being flown at half-mast, upside down (in the prehistoric section)?

Is it just someone wanting to stir up even more unrest and division?

Flying the American flag upside down means you or something or the country is in distress

and half-mast means someone has died, so I'm guessing the combo has a special significance?

Flying a flag upside down is a sign of distress ...very few foreign navies could figure out how to fly the British Union Jack ...there is a right and a wrong way ...so if a British ship got captured the canny sailors used to fly the flag upside down to tell other British ships they were under enemy control.

Distress. One morning while in elementary school in the 60's, two boy scouts erected the flag upside down by mistake. A TN State stopped in to be sure the school was ok.

I knew about upside down flag but I never knew why. Thank you for that information, I love learning new things. I’m trying to picture in my mind the upside down British flag but I can’t. Gonna google the Union Jack upside down now. Again, thanks for the cool history lesson.

First- Its the hysterical section please! The folks flying the flag upside down feel they are being shunned, are under distress and are, in the case of half staff, seeing the death of our country. If your first inclination is to disparage, please reconsider. We need some big discussions in the country. Not hate spewing. Not a political post. Just an explanation. ❤️

The United States Code says the flag should only be flown upside down to signal "dire distress in instances of extreme danger to life or property".

People are given to histrionics to attract attention mostly because they are too talentless to attract attention any other way.
