Wow! 1,000 vaccination shots a day!

Looks like we have a great plan going on right now to vaccinate 1,000 people a day. Governor Desantis announced it today in The Villages.

That would be great news.

With each person requiring two shots, at approximately 100,000 residents (just assume 20+K get their shots in whatever state they spend their summers in)...that's approximately 200 days, til everyone gets both shots.

Not impressed.

More like 120 days to get most of the county vaccinated. Most everyone through by June will make for a very happy summer. It looks like the glass is more than half full to me.

What a shock.

Did you think that it was going to take a week or two to get 660 million doses into people's arms?

Two hundred days is very impressive.

The goal is 1000, how many doses to they actually have?

The goal is 1000 per day. I don't think they have that many doses at the moment.

Right now there are about 5000 folks who have the first shot in Sumter
By Valentines Day there would be 5000 folks fully immunized and another 30,000 with the first shot
By mid March 35,000 fully immunized and another 30,000 with the first shot
By mid April 65,000 fully immunized and another 30,000 with the first shot
By mid May 95,000 fully immunized. Assuming almost all of those are Sumter residents, not snowbirds that are leaving, that would be the point we hit 75% of Sumter County vaccinated, and hopefully herd immunity.

Summer is looking good.

You don't have to be a Sumter County resident to sign up. I live in Lake County in The Villages and I am signed up for my dose. You do have to be over 65 however.

Lake County is doing their shots in Clermont and Mt Dora. My neighbor went to Clermont about a week ago without an appointment and got hers. It seems that down there, it's first come first served and you wait in line in your car for hours. I'd rather get an appointment and wait a few weeks for the appointment than to sit in my car for three or four hours.
