Burying Downspouts.
Who does this? Is it the gutter guys? Is it the landscapers? Someone else?
I don't like the idea of having my downspouts just emptying out onto the driveway or into the yard. I've seen people mention that theirs are buried. Where does the water go? Is it tied into the storm drains? I've heard mention of pop-ups in the yard. Enlighten me, please. |
We asked about it last week and were told they no longer do it. I'll be interested in responses as well.

I buried 2 of them; 1 of them I had to run under the sidewalk. Ran them to the front yard and put pop-ups on the end of them that stay closed until it rains.

One suggestion is to use pvc connectors and pipe, not the cheap plastic fittings the big box stores sell. |

Regardless, now the OP has an idea of what’s involved. |

OP, be careful where you relocate the drainage to. I just had to have my existing buried drain lines MOVED due to marginal drainage capability on the original installation several years ago. With the very wet summer/fall the lawn developed mold, had to have all of the sod in that area removed and resodded. I called ARC and was told I did not need approval for this work which surprised me, I also asked if the pop-up could be located close to the street and they did not care, New system seems to be working much better.

always an excellent response. you're my 'go-to' source on problems for minds greater than mine, thx Tinker!

I think both of our questions involve running the downspout runoff under the walkway so that it isnt pouring across the driveway. In our begonia, the downspout is next to the front door

Mine dump out by street. Over few years they do plug up some especially if you have large trees and no eve covers along with older roof loosing sand. I use my EGO blower on turbo. I take down spout pipe off and stick the round nozzle down the drain which fits like glove. Hit the button and water shoot up 3 feet high. Then, I reach down and plug out any debris left in the bottom. Might don’t have the pop up just grate covering the opening. |
