A Gift to the World
 

I don't know how many of you watch the TV show "America's Got Talent" but there is 10 year old girl on there this year that is really an unbelievable singer. Her name is Jackie Evancho and you should really take a few minutes to listen to her sing. Just truly incredible and tremendously inspirational.

Last night she sound just like Sarah Brightman. She is awesome and will travel the world like Sharon said, but I don't want her on stage in Vegas, she's just to innocent and only ten years old.

I get chills listening to her sing. She is an incredible talent besides being adorable and unpretentious. :clap2:

I agree with Mudder. How many innocent young child stars have gone down the wrong path? We read about them all the time. Britney, Miley, Adam Rich. The list is a long one. Yes there are exceptions such as Shirly Temple and Annete Funicello but most of the child stars end up self destructing. I don't want to sterotype these children and put the whammy on them but it happens so too often.

Valid concern but as far as the headlining show in Vegas - it's one night appearing with the other 9 finalist (just like in all the other cities on the tour). The other part of the prize is a million dollars but i think they pay that out over a long period of time. This show is really about the exposure it gives you.

I read where they pay it out in an annuity over 40 years. That's only $25,000 per year.

She is an incredible singer. I hope she can keep her voice as she ages.

She's phenominal. There are other examples of child performers who do not mess up their lives. Ron Howard, for example. Did Ricky Nelson and his brothers mess up their lives? Janis Ian had her first hit when she was 13 and no doubt was singing, playing instruments and writing songs before that. She wrote and choreographed her own songs and played several instruments in many of her recorded music.

I wish Jackie a successful, wonderful, inspiring life, wherever it leads.

That little girl is just adorable, and OMG WHAT a voice. She is self-possessed way beyond her years, and no doubt she will have a wonderful recording career within weeks regardless of her placement in the competition. She is refreshingly unspoiled, and quite charming. Kudos to her parents for raising such a treasure. :wave:
