I've seen it all now

Person driving his cart along the path by the lake parallel to the north end of Morse Boulevard, on the lake side of the fence - I wonder why the fence is there? It can't be to stop carts from going there, surely?

Wet grass and quite a steep slope into the lake - recipe for disaster. (Lesson One for driving off road is that you should go straight down a hill, not across it.)

I also thought I'd seen it all until today

Elderly gentlemen in front of me at Publix wanted to use (2) 50 cents off coupons to buy one product. The cashier politely said "it doesn't work that way". The gentleman got VERY ANGRY and asked to see the manager RIGHT NOW. The young manager came and politely said the same as the cashier. To which the gentlemen said (loudly), that's BS and that he was a MAJOR stockholder in Publix and he insisted on everyone's name so he could take this up the corporate ladder.
I just couldn't figure out how a MAJOR stockholder was so concerned over 50 cents.
Hmmm, why can't I get a hold of (20) 50 cent coupons and get a $10 item free?

Ditto to '"you can't fix stupid"

The longer you live in the villages you will see more and more bad driving and parking.

You can’t avoid it. You are surrounded by people in old age induced mental decline.

Sorry.

Wallyworld 02-07-2021 01:33 PM

I thought Publix was a privately owned company.

John_W 02-07-2021 01:51 PM

I've got one that might top this one. About 5 years ago I came out of Walmart on 466 and headed east on 466 and in front I saw cars all jumping out of the lane. Right by the schools a fellow who was, let's say he was huge, and was riding a mobility scooter going about maybe 10 mph right on the road. No helmet, no license of course, and no lights, no fluorescent sign. It resembled this guy.

The manager and all the other employees there probably laughed their collective butts off after the guy left. Because they know - that the ONLY "major" stockholders of Publix are the heirs to Mr. George's estate. They have - combined - a total of 20% ownership in the company. The other 80% are owned exclusively by the employees.

It's an employee-owned company, except for 20% which is owned by the family who founded it.

This older gentleman exhibits signs of either dementia/Alzheimer. He is confused and irascible. Be kind. Soon it could be you.

I’ve seen it all

When they opened the Walmart on 466, I was golf carting it to the big new box. As I started to turn left into the tunnel by Southern Trace, a PT cruiser was coming thru the tunnel at me. People, me included, were blowing their cart horns, yelling & waving, and the sweet old gent just kept coming, turned left and continued down the cart path to who knows where.
