Identify Iron Skillet
3 Attachment(s)
I have an old black iron skillet and I’m trying to identify the manufacturer and approximate age.
I’ve searched many YouTube videos as well as internet pictures to find a match, without success. It appears the logo on the back reads K B&R, but it’s hard to be sure. Attached are several pictures of the skillet. |
BSR?
Birmingham Stove and Range Doesn't seem to line up, though |

That's a beauty- don't try to clean it!

Thanks, I agree. It doesn’t seem to fit. I looked at a lot of those. They’re made in AL.
|
Thanks, very interesting. I’ll check into it. Much appreciated.

Thanks, We use it a lot. We just wipe it down and oil it. Not sure how long my Mom had it, or where she got it, but it’s as old as I can remember and I’m in my mid 60’s.

Looks like it’s this... a Martin King Stove Range #7
Martin / King Stove And Range #7 KSR Cast Iron Skillet - Sheffield, AL | #1853557635 |
I grew up in Huntsville Alabama and it looks like Martin stamping and stove logo. KSR. I went to school with Ricky Martin whose dad owned it. They are no longer in business. That's a keeper! It is in beautiful condition, congratulations.

Nice skillet, I have both Werner, Griswold, and Lodge. I have a 6.5 at Lodge Dutch Oven, if used with low gas setting and heat disperse you can get a incredible simmer.
|
My cast iron is all from PA which is where I am was raised. It might be interesting to find out if cast iron was made where you or your mom were raised???
