US sues Arizona...again

According to the Washington Post , "The Justice Department filed another lawsuit against immigration practices by Arizona authorities, saying Monday that a network of community colleges acted illegally in requiring noncitizens to provide their green cards before they could be hired for jobs."

Here's what I don't understand. All U.S. employers must complete and retain a Form I-9 for each individual they hire for employment in the United States.

According to the US Citizenship and Immigrations Services: "This includes citizens and noncitizens. On the form, the employer must examine the employment eligibility and identity document(s) an employee presents to determine whether the document(s) reasonably appear to be genuine and relate to the individual and record the document information on the Form I-9. The list of acceptable documents can be found on the last page of the form."

Yet you are breaking the law asking for identification from non-citizens. Gimme a break.

Federal Immigration and Nationality Act

Section 8 USC 1324(a)(1)(A)(iv)(b)(iii)
Recruitment and Employment of Illegal Aliens

It is unlawful to hire any individual for employment in the United States without complying with employment eligibility verification requirements. Requirements include examination of identity documents and completion of Form I-9 for every employee hired. Employers must retain all I-9s, and, with three days' advance notice, the forms must be made available for inspection.

So is a violation of federal law to hire an illegal AND also illegal to require verification of legal status.

Nothing

makes sense with this regime in the White House. To paraphrase a great governor form up north: I can see November 2nd from here.

And yet they do nothing. Oh wait I missed the title of this post. I guess they are doing something.

"and a local sheriff says Mexican drug cartels now control some parts of the state."

"This is going on here in Arizona," he said. "This is 70 to 80 miles from the border - 30 miles from the fifth-largest city in the United States."

Maybe the President is worried that we might be violating the Constitutional rights of the drug cartel members in our country and then Hillary Clinton would have to apologize again to the UN Human Rights Council.

Voting block and potential union members if amnesty is granted. That is what this fight is all about.

President Barack Obama:

"We are not going to ship back 12 million people, we're not going to do it as a practical matter. We would have to take all our law enforcement that we have available and we would have to use it and put people on buses, and rip families apart, and that's not who we are, that's not what America is about. So what I've proposed... is you say we're going to bring these folks out of the shadows. We're going to make them pay a fine, they are going to have to learn English, they are going to have to go to the back of the line...but they will have a pathway to citizenship over the course of 10 years."

AFL-CIO: (I put certain words in bold that I believe promotes the Employee Free Choice Act, or doing away with the secret ballot.)

"Immigration reform is a component of a
shared prosperity agenda that focuses on improving
productivity and quality; limiting wage competition;
strengthening labor standards, especially the freedom
of workers to form unions and bargain collectively;
and providing social safety nets and high-quality
lifelong education and training for workers and their
families.

"To achieve this goal, immigration reform must
fully protect U.S. workers, reduce the exploitation of
immigrant workers and reduce employers’ incentive to
hire undocumented workers rather than U.S. workers.

"The most effective way to do that is for all workers—
immigrant and native-born—to have full and complete
access to the protection of labor, health and safety
and other laws. Comprehensive immigration reform
must complement a strong, well-resourced and
effective labor standards enforcement initiative that
prioritizes workers’ rights and workplace protections.

"This approach will ensure that immigration does not
depress wages and working conditions or encourage
marginal low-wage industries that depend heavily on
substandard wages, benefits and working conditions."

I have a better idea. Take the all troops coming back from Iraq, send them to AZ, run massive door to door sweeps, clean out the cesspool and then mass along the border and seal it down tight. Wonder how many AZ residents will be in their front yards cheering for the troops?

My brother lives 5 miles from the area spoken about in the article. I know he'd be cheering. You should hear some of his stories.

I think it is appalling that illegal border crossing seems to the be the only law that when broken has no repercussion to it. We lock thousands of folks up in this country that were legally born and raised here for crimes far less than the illegal border violators. WHY.
Hows that cashman??????

Good point. Seems that politicians do not want to offend future voters. Politicians would sell this country down the tubes to get elected. I am sick of the whole political process. :rant-rave:
