LOUD music in Mallory Square last night

I slept through it but hubby said there was very loud music playing from about 10:30 to 12:30 last night. After a couple of hours of that, hubby called Community Watch to go check it out and was told there were several other calls about it. They told him they could not do anything about it but would notify the police. It took about 30 minutes before the music stopped. Hubby said it was so loud, he could easily hear the music with the house windows closed.

Seems that loud music is uncalled for. Glad I did all this in my youth, loud music, night clubs with lots of drinking. At 72 I want a quieter life and don’t need some who never grew up blasting music into the late night.

Don't expect Community Watch to "do" anything about anything except maybe directing traffic around an accident. The Villages district have "0" police authority by state law. No parking tickets, no stopping loud noise, no law enforcement of any kind. Best they can do is maybe call the Sherriff's office for you, but normally they will tell you to make that call.

To employ and run a police force costs biggum bucks. I could tolerate a lot of loud music as I think the system we have, using local law enforcement is good. Village Watch driving around checking things is not only a deterrent but a wise thing to see if people have left their garage doors up or someone is strolling around that doesn't look right. I like how things are.

Plus I really have a major hearing loss. ;)

So.....did anyone hear that loud music in Mallory Square a few nights ago or was it just a figment of hubby's imagination?

Velvet 02-24-2021 03:34 PM

No, I didn’t hear it, but like you, OP, since I am not hearing impaired, I would have not put up with it either.

Is it Renters?

Hmmm. Maybe so. I didn't even think of that. I haven't heard any loud music since so maybe the police did speak to them.

Renters is few and far between this year. How about not everyone here is over 65. Driveway Bday party few nights ago with two live bands, still playing after midnight. I had to get up 4am next morning, betting everyone else slept late. So far OP nobody has fessed up to partying in the streets at Mallory Square.
Finally people are leaving their keyboard, and trying to find normal.
So complaints will begin, for us its nice to see normal again.

I would have called the sheriff department. It is also against Community Standards.

Gracie, didn’t read your post. I didn’t realize.... I had a friend who wore hearing aids and whenever she didn’t want to hear what I was about to say, she’d turn them down. I figure I’ll do the same when I get there.

The Villages was and is advertised as an active adult retirement community. That is why we moved here. Play on active folks.

Every once in awhile is is good to not only be ACTIVE, but YOUNG. It's what keeps us alive! I think they should have music until midnight in the Squares on the weekends, or have a main 'Stage' for late night music, but that's just me....

This music wasn't coming from one of the squares. The loud music was coming from a residential neighborhood. Hubby heard this music 'till 12:30 at night.
