Am I the only one that now HATES Award shows?

In the past, I used to look forward to all the 'Awards' shows. The Hosts were generally wonderful, as was the entertainment and spectacle of it all. That was THEN. I'm showing my age, I know. They were special and in general the celebrities were quite funny, appreciative, and non-political.

NOW - each & every one is a 'NO WAY' would I spend a spare minute watching them.

NOW - every one of them is so commercial, so phony, mega-millionaires celebrating themselves blathering boring speeches with political overtones.

Nope. And for the first one to respond "your TV has an off button", please don't.

haven't watched one in years and it was the country music awards. Eventually got tired of the political slant of performer, or award receivers and basically tuned out and off all evening network television.

I don't watch 'em.

Quit watching self indulgent spoiled multi millionaires and there political views. They think they matter

Ditto to all of the above. If I even sneak a peek it is just for the opening number.

Some years ago one of the Redgrave sisters won and than started ranting and raving about a pet political cause and than got a standing ovation. That mostly did it for me.

Than for the academy awards almost have never seen the movies they give awards too so why watch or care?

I agree with a previous poster. I gave up on award shows many, many, many (too many manys?) years ago.

I also never had an interest in any of the Miss America type pagents long before they dropped the swimsuit segments. Seriously? No swimsuits any longer?

I don't hate award shows. I also don't watch them. I don't watch them because I don't spend endless hours every day parked in front of a machine that does all my thinking for me.

They did away with swimsuits? Good grief

I often tape them but wind up erasing them without watching them. I would rather watch and/or listen to whatever film, TV show, song, etc. is getting the award and not the award show.
