Mallory Hill Caroline , Virginia condition 2/27

We played Mallory yesterday afternoon for the first time in a few months and I understand now why it was so easy to get a tee time there. I had read the comments on the course over the last few weeks but I hoped there would have been improvement in the conditions. Tee boxes are fine (blue tees). Fairways are firm (good for roll out) but really beat down with all the golf cart tires. Tight lie on every shot from the fairway. The condition of the greens are the worst I have seen on any Village championship course in 17 years. There are large areas on most greens that have basically no grass and is heavily sanded. On long putts you could go from sand to grass back to sand . No speed consistency at all. Ironically the ninth green on Caroline (the one visible from the clubhouse)was almost perfect.

So when putting on a green that looks like a battlefield, what do you do? Declare automatic 2-putt? Move the ball until you don't have to put across sand or scarred areas? What is legal in order to log scores for handicap purposes. I will normally move the ball as if it's ground under repair..

For handicap purposes, you should putt across the worst areas.
No handicap is high enough when a $ is on the line!:icon_wink:
